Doesnât look like they have taco salad on the menu. This place passes my test. They have lengua as a taco option and they serve horchata.

Yeah Tex-mex in Tex is pretty awesome. Not sure it is great in Mex though. Way better than Cal-Mex though.

Iâd like to see the argument that a taco salad is authentically Mexican.
I suppose one could argue that the taco salad is Cal-Mex because it probably originated in California, but it may have been invented there by a Texan and its typical use of beef and shredded cheese has it more in line with Tex-Mex food.
A taco salad is basically taco ingredients in a fried tortilla bowl. If you take those ingredients and put them back into a normal taco form, whose taco does it resemble the most?
