By the time a $15/hour minimum wage happens in this country, $15 will be worth $7.25 in today’s dollars.
The parliamentarian has traditionally been highly non-partisan and I can’t imagine them doing anything other than faithfully executing their job.
Sorry but I spend half my life following American politics and I have no idea what the fuck a “Senate parliamentarian” is. Amazing how complicated you can make a system where the idea is that you introduce bills and then it passes if it gets a majority vote.
I’m imagining it’s like the parliamentary speaker for commonwealth countries?
The Australian equivalents are the clerks of the two houses of Parliament.
I mean, this was in response to rocket attacks on American forces. There’s clearly authority. The two situations are not similar.
Props to Secretary Mayor Pete.

Look fats, we need all the political capital we can get & I’m working on my DeJoy moment… Here’s a
Go chase a bowl or something yo young kids do…
Snap-bombing Syria while letting some obscure parliamentary norms shut down $15 min wage is A+ New Democrat bullshit. Esp with the optics rolling into CPAC, just perfect stuff any way you look at it.
Ah, you’ve gotten a copy of the plan, I see
If I could be bothered it would be a fun experiment to swap out trump for biden and change the dates of some old news stories to see just how much you would try justify.
Democrat politicians should not fret nobody will
Be busting their ass to get them elected in the future.
I still don’t understand why everyone is acting like democrats are a solid voting block when we have two semi Republican senators who at some point would tell us to fuck off and tank the whole bill.
The failure here is democrats are fucking trash at messaging and running for office and don’t have enough seats to do this type of stuff.
Taking into account their history it’s a favorite they would do this too if they had 53 seats too, but in this instance there really isn’t shit they can do if Manchin and Cinema tells them they are not going to vote for $15 min wage if they over rule the parliamentarian and force it on there.
The voting rights act is probably the whole ballgame for U.S. democracy. I don’t know if the Democratic Party fully gets that yet, or if they ever will.
