I’m a bit surprised it’s taken so long for people to start saying “What else is he doing?”

At this point it looks like maybe the depression and post-war era are the anomaly, especially the broad acceptance of the New Deal programs in the 50s and 60s. This makes sense because the war was so significant and so transformed America’s place in the world. What are the fundamentals that are supposed to drive a more egalitarian and less class-divided Society right now? It’s supposed to just happen because of social and political movements outside of underlying conditions that foster them? We’ll see what kind of system and ideas the current and upcoming way of life fosters. I’m all for some struggle, but driving up a slippery hill probably isn’t sustainable.

You literally can’t hold territory in 2019 without the acceptance of the locals without overwhelming outside force… and even then it costs an astronomical amount of blood and treasure. So there is that. Plus there’s the internet to spread the movement around and expose maximum numbers of people to the fact that they are getting screwed. To be clear I don’t think the entirety of China can actually hold HK long term, so holding onto every city in America is fucking hopeless. We can’t hold down Afghanistan ffs.

I think the 4th industrial revolution is just getting started, and when there’s maybe 1 job for every 2.5 people things are going to get real. The last time things got this serious we got the new deal. This time will either be similar or something really bad will happen. Which one is hard to predict.

Which is why I think this country needs upheaval on the level of the Depression to foster change. And I’m not above the idea of advocating finding a way to artificially induce that upheaval.

If reality isn’t enough then WAAF anyway

That kind of garbage is why I hate big law firms. They basically all operate as legal criminal conspiracies aiding and abetting the worst of human behavior, all while elevating themselves as virtuous, principled actors.

Trump called the Constitution phony. Looking forward to our Very Angry Tea Party Patriots denouncing his statement.

To be fair, they aren’t required to accept service on behalf of a cleint who has not expressly authorized them to accept service. Representing a client in one case does not mean they have to (or can) accept service of a complaint in another. That said, I largely share your disdain for the hypocrisy of big law firms. (Though, most big law firms will use every legal recourse, to the point of occasionally pissing off judges in a manner unhelpful to their cleint, but they rarely run afoul of the law. You need hacks like Toesing and Giuliani for that.) When predicting the strategy of big law firms you need to consider the course of action that 1) covers their ass and 2) leads to a maximum billable hours.

“I don’t think you people, with this phony Emoluments Clause — and by the way, I would say that it’s cost anywhere from $2 billion to $5 billion to be president,”

Already setting the stage for when his real financials come out to explain why he is not a billionaire.
