Prediction: Sondland testimony is going to deliver. He is a complete moron.
A visit to a soldier and family without a thumbs up photo? I think not.
I don’t know about us, but I know Trump is sweating, whatever it is.
So i know i know facebook but and I live in Alabama but i have been posting some impeachment stuff on it just hoping to reach some low information voters not that it will change any 2020 prospects in alabama but whatever i feel like doing something.
I posted this a few mins ago.
Further update for people that might not be following the impeachment scandal as closely as others.
Defenses that the GOP is floating for this bribery/extortion and why they are a joke.
Defense #1 They got the aid before the deadline so no harm no foul.
The aid was only released to Ukraine after this became a story. You don’t get to give them the money after you are found to be attempting crimes and just pretend nothing happened. Similar to the defense used by GOP for Trumps obstruction in mueller report, sorry but attempted crimes are still crimes, regardless of what Fox news says.
Defense #2 All of this is hearsay.
Sorry again, one we have the president on the july 25th phone call asking for the investigation as a favor after ukraine brings up military aid. Two, this is corrobated by 5+ witnesses at this point, some of which were on the call. Three, you don’t get to stop all of your people from testifying that you possibly can stop that would have firsthand knowledge and then claim hearsay. Oh and also Mick Mulvaney admitted to quid pro quo on live camera lol.
Defense #3 This was just US policy and a disagreement over policy.
Sorry no again, an investigation into a poltiical rival is not and never has been and never will be part of US foreign policy. Foreign policy is supposed to be for things that are in our country’s best interest. When the president goes to a foreign country and withholds something to benefit himself personally, thats called a bribe/extortion/shakedown whatever you want to call it.
No whataboutsim, conspiracy theories or anything else can take away from the above.
The president committed a crime and hurt our allies in the process while strengthening Russia.
If you refuse to care about this or continue to support Trump, you are selling out the country and I dont want to hear anything from anyone that does about the rule of law or conservative values or anything else because you are clearly full of shit.
For those of us that do care, please make sure you register to vote and vote come 2020 so we can vote this clown out as I have no hope that the joke of a party the GOP is will actually do the right thing here.
recognizing isreali settlements in the west bank as legal will really encourage isreal to (not) come to the negotiating table and make a lasting peace deal. this jared kushner (whose family owns several real estate development companies operating in the west bank) is a tactical genius at magakag
JT, I have been thinking about this all day. I hate that I don’t have a persuasive counter, just some thoughts on why I feel conflicted.
At least on an individual scale, nobody changes because you shame them. You can at best make them performative, but they’ll go back as soon as the pressure eases. And sometimes, you’ve made an enemy for life. A person changes has to want to change in order to choose to change. It’s hard to say what acts as the catalyst for the things that drive the kind of changes we’d really want–think of trying to MAKE someone be intellectually curious–but I do believe reflection is an essential part of it.
And yet I don’t think most people have the capacity or desire to think deeply about these things. Certainly not in a way that lets them evolve through the sheer force of reflection. They’re instead just taking the next step on a path they don’t realize they could leave. Ted Chiang (esteemed author responsible for the short story used as the basis for Arrival) refers to this as metacognition, the ability to think about your self thinking about something.
In psychology, the term “insight” is used to describe a recognition of one’s own condition, such as when a person with mental illness is aware of their illness. More broadly, it describes the ability to recognize patterns in one’s own behavior. It’s an example of metacognition, or thinking about one’s own thinking, and it’s something most humans are capable of but animals are not.
So as much as I wish people’s hearts would change, I don’t think it happens all that often.
Instead, I think paradigm shifts have proven over time to occur one of only two ways.
- Enforced evolution of norms for abrupt change
- Long-term generational cultural evolution
With 1, slavery is an easy go-to example. Nothing short of war was enough to force people to stop owning slaves long enough for a new generation to never know a world where slavery wasn’t illegal and taboo to even discuss in favorable terms.
Where does that leave us now? I don’t have an answer except to say that 2) will happen on its own, and to say I believe it is already happening.
The change we want is coming, and it will humble those of us who lived in the prior age. But the road there is hard and long, and the truth is that sometimes, we are in real danger of not making it to the end.
While AZ might be in play, in what universe is Iowa in play where we haven’t already won PA/WI/MI?
Longish article on Barr’s incoherent legal philosophy and how it serves his personal interest in not being held to account.

Haha I saw this live and thought it was my kid
Replies are A+++
Given how close WI/MI/PA were last time, it’s possible just to randomly bink Iowa and run bad and lose in the three others, but it’s obviously pretty unlikely.
Trump: the speaker of the house just said I’m dangerously unhinged and criminally unfit to be president! Can you believe this?
Unstuck Politics: yep
You mean Trump made up/paraphrased what she actually said? I’m sure everyone blasting Schiff will be delighted to both sides

This is one of the great mysteries of this whole thing. WTF is up with that? It has to be significant, right?
