The Presidency of Donald J. Trump v5.0: ORANGE Gettin' PEACHed, Nation Goes PEANUT BUTTER & BANANAS

True, but if a hypothetical non-POS billionaire existed (along with fairies and unicorns), it’s fair to say there would be more beneficial uses of their money than giving most of it to the US military. For instance, maybe you’d fund hospitals being built rather than bombed.

IMO any of us who are against US military & mercenary actions overseas, myself included, are hypocrites for paying federal taxes. Every time my tax dollars get used to murder civilians for imperialist causes, there is blood on my hands.

Someone tell me exactly what he should do. Not abstract. What should bill gates specifically do to be ok?

We are talking about his philanthropy because to extent he has done good it is only because it was a means to satiate his sociopathic desires. He is willing to do 100x damage in the opposite direction if that happens to satiate sociopathic desires as he has just concusively proven.

Come on guys, Gates needs to keep his money so he can meet a few more Epstein’s he might want to give some money to.

Um ok. Lol. Carry on then.

Support someone like Elizabeth Warren for President, and as a baseline for human decency agree to support her over Donald fucking Trump if she wins the D nomination? Would cost him $0 dollars, though political donations would be nice.

Nah, that’s just crazy talk! How could he ever be expected to do something as impossible as that.

I know, right. This fucking guy. Giving away tons of money to help tons of really poor people avoid disease and misery. He’s really the worst kind of sociopath. Just helps people to hide the sociopathy underneath. But he’s not getting anything by you. You can see right through that shit.

Just having a normal one

Gates wasn’t elected to redistribute the money. We don’t have any input into where the money will be allocated. Even if Gates does everything right it’s still better to have (tax) laws that do not leave it to his whim.
This is like trickle-down charity. Just let the billionaires have the majority of the world’s wealth. They will benevolently distribute it to those most in need.

I think it’s a mistake to focus on Gates. He is probably better than 99% of the other billionaires but by pointing out his flaws we can easily demonstrate how terrible the rest of them are.

Exactly. Attacking gates makes the left look like insane class warriors who don’t actually believe what they say.

It’s absolutely terrible politics.

Give away the vast majority of his wealth while he’s alive. The Gates Foundation has to spend everything it has within 20 years of Bill and Melinda’s deaths, and it has to spend all of the donated Berkshire Hathaway money within 10 years of Warren Buffet’s death, so why not just do it now and get it over with?

If he is even a decent guy then how is Elizabeth Warren vs. Donald Trump a close call to him? Watch Bill Gates brain and he subtly admits his sociopathy that the Warren comments make blatantly obvious.

I’m sure I’ve said exactly this several times within the last hour. Not sure what else I can do. Here it is again.

  1. Gates actions are good. They insulate against the criticism that he (specifically, Bill Gates) is not doing enough.

  2. Despite the above, his actions should not be used as the basis of any kind of tax policy.

Lol you are still stuck on a point that literally conceded in the op of this discussion. Keep scoring points against your invisible opponent.

This drives it home, they were adamant about a public announcement.

No details about an official investigation, just the personal attorney for POTUS twisting the arm of the head of state of a bourgeoning democracy we are supposedly supporting militarily against the aggression of the country that meddled in our election.

Well one argument is that is often made is that billionaires are really good at making money. So if you just let them keep the money longer it will grow more so that when they die there will be even more money to give to charitable causes (even after adjusting for inflation).

And just to be clear, even if the above happens to be true, IT SHOULD NOT BE THE BASIS OF ANY TAX POLICY.

In before the next post ignores this point, yet again.

I checked Wikipedia. Gates is 64, his father is 93 and still alive. It could easily take more than 50 years before the money is spent.

Not taking anything away from his business acumen, but you don’t attain the kind of worth Gates has without being some type of sociopath. He was ruthless in business fucking over tons of people. So he started a foundation with his wife and gave some back? Sweet. Better than not doing so and having people think you’re a gluttonous miser, I suppose

I don’t think most people are able to fathom just how big of a number a BILLION is. But then, it’s not like it’s 1975 and a billion dollars doesn’t go as far as it used to I guess
