I should go back and try to dig up the post. I had a theory at one point early on that Trump would ramp up a conflict, freak everyone out, then cut a deal to benefit Russia. I think the theory involved ramping up the proxy war with Russia and cutting a deal to end sanctions, but it was still a pretty similar series of events to what just happened in Syria. This would probably be back on 2p2, though, so it would be hard to find.

Really, though, that deal is breaking my mind. Here’s the current control map from liveuamap - it won’t be 100% accurate, but definitely ballpark. Then it also has my terrible, rough drawing of the territory Pence has ‘conceded’ on top. It’s insanity.
Can the other 5 members of G7 just be like “this is corrupt and stupid, and we don’t want to hang with trump anyways because he’s a moron. We’re gonna meet elsewhere, let boris and trump play golf by themselves”

I just don’t know at this point. I should say, for the purposes of calming down, that there were rumours that the understanding between Russia and Turkey was to give Turkey its safe zone. But today it seemed as if there was decent confirmation of Syrian troops in and around Kobane (well inside the zone) and quite possibly fighting as well.
Whatever the deals, though, I really can’t see the SDF retreating, even if everyone else does and tells them they have to. Which is why I think, whatever the stuff we don’t know, this is disgusting and will probably lead to more death than if it had never happened.
