I’ve been at a couple public meetings for large Everglades restoration projects and for the management of Lake Okeechobee where this guy has given public comments. He kind of came out of nowhere, just appeared at these meetings talking like he knew what was going on and that he had solutions with a level of shameless confidence that made my skin crawl. The guy’s almost certainly a sociopath. Also, I looked him up at the time and his political message was much different than his message is now, and that wa s just in like January. He’s fucking crazy, and he’s running against Brian Mast, so I doubt he’ll win, but if he does he is going to be a disaster.

The “small (tiny)” thing he does never gets old. There is literally no English speaking person over the age of 3 that would need that clarification, yet he does this regularly. Why? Is he trying to show his knowledge of synonyms? Is he trying to help his base understand the difficult words? Is he just a moron?

This fear is completely overwrought, imo. Even if this gesture by Trump is the new normal, and he and all of his followers will now gleefully wear masks whenever out and about, we’re still in for about 2 months of absolute hell. We’re just getting started with death rates ticking up, and they’re not going to be coming down for a while. By the time that happens, the expectation is that Trump’s support will continue to erode (even if this gives him a temporary bump), and there won’t be enough time to recover by election day.
In trade, Trump and his supporters wearing masks could mean that we indeed are blessed with a mere 2 months of hell instead of 5 or more, saving perhaps hundreds of thousands of lives. It’s a good trade.
