I disagree, insofar as they truly beleive that they are in fact part of the group that values ethics and morals. DJT’s super power is that he can both be a hero defending patriarchy, xtianity, and white supremacy; and an anti-hero bravely using lies and deception(mostly for good, but sometimes he raw dogs a woman that is not his wife, risking eternal damnation). Fortunately he’s been pre-forgiven because all the good evangelicals pray so earnestly for him.

How can they trust liberals to be ethical, when those same people are in favor of murdering unborn fetuses and turning America into a Joe Biden-led socialist hellhole? Only Trump, with his ability to match the far left’s lies and deceit, can stop them from indoctrinating the youth into becoming islamo-athiest trans environmentalists.

And that’s why I’m not super worried about additional oil projects going forward. I think we’ve passed peak oil demand and it’s all downward from here. There’s absolutely no reason to get oil from anywhere it isn’t easy going forward. The rest can stay in the ground.

Trump is looking his supporters dead in the eyes and saying ā€œI know you are mentally deficient.ā€

He is getting a lot of positive feedback on it from somewhere.

It’s going to be really, really, really bad for the world when the Middle East can’t print infinity money selling oil anymore.

True. But my parents are of average height and I’m 6’2" (not at 14 to be fair).

Barron looks taller than 6’2" though. Those legs are very long. Wonder if he plays basketball.

Agree to disagree. To me, yes, all bootstrapping arguments are the same. The concept of laziness itself is capitalist propaganda.

I’m all for accountability, but you and I may disagree over the very concept of free will, compatible determinism, and what freedom any of us truly have beyond the terms available to us. I don’t think you’re claiming this to the degree I’m fighting against, but I am ever mindful not to say such things as, ā€œYou have more than I do, so you should be able to do what I can do with less.ā€ That’s not fair to the obstacles that you may be facing that I far more easily overcome.

What are you wishing Jon Stewart would do that he’s not already doing? Maybe you are more educated about Jon Stewart and Michelle Obama’s actions than I am. I’m not so much arguing against accountability as that your and Matt’s arguments to my ears are holding them accountable for not doing what we want THE WAY WE WANT. Those are not the same thing, but we talk about them like they are.

I wish Jon were back on The Daily Show or some comparable public news discourse, but in the absence of that, I don’t think it’s likely a man of his intelligence and conviction has not continued to fight for the very things we wish he were fighting for. But he may be doing so in ways I don’t know about. He’s out of the public eye. That doesn’t mean he’s doing nothing. All I’d be arguing is that my only use for him is if he continues to serve my interests in the way I want.

I’m going out on a limb to say none of us ITT can speak with certainty on the depth and breadth of the actions Jon Stewart is very likely taking based on his history of political intervention. But we talk about him as though he’s doing nothing merely because we aren’t aware of it, and I’m not willing to say that public perception of his actions by default has a greater impact than whatever else he’s likely to be doing instead. And even if the impact is less in the immediate, what if he’s adapting to old age and what’s necessary for him to have the well-being essential to serving the public for decades to come?

Like, who are we to say what cost he was paying to host TDS? Did he come home each day in a fitful rage? Were there some days he didn’t come home at all? Was he unable to disconnect from politics and unable to connect to his family? Has it been years and years since he experienced a moment of joy? Did his doctor tell him that if you keep doing this, you will be dead within two years? Did he keep hosting and doing the things we’re demanding as long as he did because he believed that a man of his wealth and connections had no excuse for admitting he has limits too?

Without taking into account forced perspective adding a couple of inches, I could easily see him being 6’7" or 6’8" based on that photo. The only way he’s 6’2" is if he’s at least 3 feet closer to the camera (away from Trump) than he looks.

ā€œIf you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.ā€

It’s funny you say that. I think that part of the world will never know anything approaching peace or normalcy while the oil remains the dominant source of economic activity.

They don’t call it the resource curse for nothing.
