I almost feel like this needs a new thread, but I’ll keep my unblemished streak of never starting a new thread ever alive.
I’ve ranted before about how this Pizzagate QAnon stuff seems to be percolating into the mainstream at an alarming rate; friends keep on showing terrifying things that their otherwise normal Facebook friends are sharing.
Then yesterday, I was in Savannah and say a protest from a ways away, so I went to check out what it was for. It was a “Save the Children” protest. For a moment I thought it was against back-to-school stuff, but then I saw it was “sex trafficking awareness.”
It was a collection of largely normal-looking people, even a lot of people I would guess are liberal based on their appearances, waving mostly benign-looking “save the children” signs, but with a definite QAnon right-wing bent.
Worst of all, Savannah’s news channel covered the “protest” with total credulity, and seemingly intentionally amplified QAnon symbols and conspiracy theories without a disclaimer or anything.
The video is like a where’s waldo of right wing and white nationalist conspiratorial garbage that is presented as 100% healthy and normal, propagated to an entire metro area.
Now I’m curious to see if these sorts of rallies start spreading all around the country now.
The preferred mode of entry for these people seems to be skipping overt political messaging altogether. If people see Trump’s name, they will raise their defenses. But if you don’t mention anything political, and focus exclusively on relatable things (who in the world isn’t against sex trafficking?) you can bypass the political side altogether. People will be right of Trump before they even know it.
Guaranteed more kids in that area are going to die from COVID this school year than have been abducted for sex trafficking since Savannah re-entered the United States, but of course making kids wear masks somehow makes abduction easier.
Oleksandr Onyshchenko, who’s reportedly giving the goods to Derkach, is founder and director of Top Ukraine, which puts on Miss Ukraine and Miss Ukraine Universe.
He doesn’t have the money or the competence to actually deliver meaningful relief to a significant number of people. Despite all his bluster and whining and self promotion and lying, the pain is going to start in the next few weeks and voters will, as Obama painfully learned, always blame the president when actual bad shit happens to them.
Because he doesn’t have the cash to fund more than a week or two of unemployment benefits, which aren’t going to reach people for multiple weeks. He just took responsibility for the UE benefits by doing all this as an EO.
Look he just waved a wand and said ‘I hereby do x’ and now x is not going to happen IRL. It’s actually impossible for this to help him in any way. He’s got a deep hole to dig out of by 11/3 even with the inevitable cheating, and this is digging down not digging up.
