I’ve been waiting for a package of KN95s I ordered that were supposed to be delivered July 27th, the most recent tracking update was “In transit in New Jersey” from July 24th. Yay.
I know exactly why mail is coming late and I’ve still caught myself thinking this, so their plan to scapegoat the USPS is going to work flawlessly. Truly evil shit.

I ordered something July 20, and it was shipped July 22. I called customer service yesterday, August 7, and the service rep told me that the package was being held up by USPS “for political reasons”.
She said they can put in a request that the package be released, and that usually works. If it doesn’t, they have to fill out some long-winded form and wait a while for USPS to react - but instead of doing this they usually just re-ship a fresh order to the customer because it’s faster and doesn’t lead to negative reviews.
So not only is the government trying to agitate me into thinking the USPS is bad and unreliable, small businesses are also being fucked over in order to drive this sentiment home.

I’ve got to hand it to Trump - he’s really rather good at the fascism stuff. He seems to have a bottomless pool of tactics to maximise his chances of winning in November while feeding suspicions and paranoia that give him outs in case he loses.

I think he’s closer to 60% right now. At this point, mail-in ballots mailed within 2 weeks of the election have about a 5% chance of counting. Mailed within 3 weeks maybe 40%.
Trump will greenlight a vaccine right before the election.
Barr will do some crazy shit in October and the media will take that bait.
Biden will start speaking more as it nears and he will make gaffes, he always has. The media will cover that a ton.
States with Republicans administering the elections are not in play unless Biden wins the popular vote like 60-40. They won’t allow it. This election is PA, MI, WI, AZ. The question is how much of a deficit can they overcome with legal cheating from the administration like the USPS stuff? Given three months lead time, I shudder to think.

I ordered a cloth mask on Etsy, it was supposed to arrive in like 3-7 days. After 10 had gone by I put in a USPS claim and followed up, she offered to reship one but I had to pay for filters and shipping. I waited. Another week went by and it finally arrived. That was maybe a month ago. The USPS called the other day about the claim.
I agree. I don’t think Biden is anywhere near where he needs to be in the polls if he’s to withstand the likely late Trump surge plus vote rigging.

Any evidence that vote-by-mail favors Democrats? It should favor whoever homeowners and old people vote for.
Imo, Johnny is right about this and it’s just a way to cast doubt on the results, but it’s possible that Trump will shoot himself in the foot doing it.

Given the pandemic, I think it’s very likely vote by mail favors Democrats. It increases turnout. Given the one-off nature of this situation, there’s no firm evidence.
This scenario right here is why they won’t be able to pull off the postal service blockade they are going for. It’s going to get news coverage in a big way in a week or two when people can’t get meds they already paid for.
These guys are wildly incompetent and are still surprised every time the real world hits back. Opening schools is going to be an apocalyptic disaster. Things are only going to get worse from now until late January and the slope of our descent is getting deeper not leveling off.
Their bright idea is fucking up the post office in the middle of a global pandemic to buy themselves a week or two of extra confusion about election results… at best. When in real life he’ll probably lose every form of voting there is absolutely including in person voting. Because he’s the kind of guy who thinks it’s a good idea to get chemo to shave your head (credit to Robin Williams on one of my favorite simile’s).
Pretty sure people are going to notice that they’ve sabotaged the post office lol. They get like 1 maybe 2 weeks of real outages absolutely anywhere before everyone in that area is demanding answers for what the fuck is going on. It’s one more opportunity for reality to leak in through the holes in Trump supporters world views too. Hard to tell yourself the guy is doing a good job when you call Fedex about your package and they tell you that the Post Office is holding up the shipment for political reasons. You can do it, but if those are your expensive pills that make life worth living and you can’t get them for a week or two that’s going to cause some significant cognitive dissonance.
Other examples of these reality checks include getting told you’ve been exposed to a COVID positive person but it taking 2 weeks to get results back on the test. Not a good experience. It’s happening to a lot of people every day.

My wife just got a letter from out county auditor’s office that her signature on her primary ballot didn’t match the one on file and she needs to fill out a form to attest that it is indeed her signature.

What stops them from speeding it back up for a few more months, then slamming the brakes back on in early October? People can start raising holy hell in late October, but they won’t give a fuck. Then can just blame Soros or something.
I mean, fuck, what’s to stop them from just throwing away tens of thousands of ballots from Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee and Phoenix? Who’s going to do shit about it? What are they going to do? Nothing that’s going to bring those ballots back.
In March I had an argument with a likely Trumper who insisted there can’t be any such a thing as voter suppression bc vote-by-mail. Every time I see a Trump tweet on it or news about him sabotaging USPS, I want to go lol in that guy’s face. But then I remember I had to explain to him the difference between absolute numbers and rates of fatalities re covid. And this is a guy who is a private pilot and has a job that requires technical expertise. So lol me I guess.
