Biden is polling with a 6+% lead on fivethirtyeight in Florida, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. So more than triple the lead he has in Ohio. That is still 75 votes that would basically reverse the numbers of 2016. Republicans won Ohio 52% to 47% in 2018.
I am Not saying that Ohio is a lost cause, only that trying to guarantee a win in Ohio (which giving Kasich a prominent role at the Dem convention won‘t even do, imo) is not a good strategy.
Most news organizations refuse to submit questions for prescreening. Some Fox shows are different, but I don’t think Wallace permits this. WH press conference questions are never prescreened but Trump will often call on “reporters” from friendly outlets.
CA may require prescreening for covid questions to research the question or ensure the answer is correct.
What’s working is being out of the public eye while Trump fails. When Biden is in the public eye, which he will be by necessity at the convention, they need to talk about the things where the Dems beat the Republicans. Talking about Trump inevitably brings the discussion to where the Rs beat the Dems - racial grievances.
I mean calling Trump racist is pretty useless. Everybody knows that, even his supporters. Doesn’t mean you can’t jab at him while building yourself up.
What gets to Trump and fucks him up are little things. Hillary knew that which is why she mocked him for losing out on an Emmy and stuff like that. It tilted him big time. Insulting him for policy rolls off his back because he doesn’t care about that stuff. Insult his tiny hands and it’s on.
As I posted in the following paragraph, racisn accusations won’t do shit to him. Petty shit about him personally drives him nuts. Call him a coward for firing people from afar or a weak leader sucking up to Putin. Question his manhood and toughness. His hands, face, orange makeup, weight, lifts in his shoes would throw him off way more than technocrat shit because he gives zero fucks about policy. Guy can’t remember yesterday, let alone anything policy-related.
Biden should hire Jeff Ross and have him write a bunch of burns about Trump, especially going after his money and lack of it.
This is ok for the debates in small doses, but on a platform like the Dem convention where Joe just stands there and talks they need a clear message that spells out what Uncle Joe will do for you. If he stands there and says Vote Joe because Trump’s racism in unacceptable he will actually lose votes from people that will feel like Joe is attacking them for their racial attitudes that are close to Trump’s!
Yeah. I’ve never heard of questions for any news conference being pre-screened. Reporters may not even know themselves what they are going to ask until the moment the question comes. Questions are much more likely to be pre-screened in the context of an interview.
I just have a feeling that antagonizing Trump does little more than feed red meat to the Dem base. It’s fine, but its important that they focus on having an actual message to drive turnout. I really don’t think Stop Trump’s Racism will do that.
Yeah I took a ton from that interview bobman posted, that guy is brilliant.
Its not that Democrats shouldn’t “orange man bad,” its that when they do so they should focus on the virus, the stupidity, the corruption, the economic carnage and the just plain not giving a shit about anyone but himself. Even many self-described supporters of racial justice have this almost involuntary identification with the racial grievance. Its fine to say Biden supports racial justice and police reform but he and his surrogates should absolutely stay away from defund police or whatever.
Any and all questions Trump is asked by typical journalists boil down to “Sir, does X imply are you incompetent/stupid?” Trump makes some noises, throws in some lies about shit happening in 2 weeks, adds an implied fu. No prep required.
Any and all questions asked by OANN or similar boil down to “Sir, X. How great are you?” Trump reply is same as above except for fu substitute insincere compliments for recognition of his MAGA greatness.
