I think in stiller air that is true. The droplets stay heavy and fall. However if we add a lot of velocity at say FACE LEVEL we probably keep more in the air moving horizontally. Close to fan (assuming no one positive on the upstream side) is probably good. Being 15’ away with a group of non mask wearing folks between you and the fan = bad.
