Trudeau refers multiple times to “racialized” Canadians, using the word is a way most Americans are probably unfamiliar with.
Is this just a way of saying “Canadians of color”?
I think it’s just an acknowledgement that it’s not just black Canadians that disadvantaged, as an incredibly multi cultural country there are numerous groups of people for white Canadians to relate to on a racial basis.

This struck me as weird too. Racialized used as a term for discriminated against makes sense. But to use it simply to describe people who are not white seems offensive to me. But what do I know? I also want to grunch as the term people of color and prefer non-white. We’re all people of color and therefore should be equal
I think it is a way to refer to people who are treated differently, likely less well, because of their race. I think it’s a good term, because calling them racialized makes one ask “who is racializing them”. It encourages the assignment of responsibility.
