On balance the fact that poor people in the US were made somewhat worse off is a price worth paying probably.
I think âsomwhat worse offâ is a modest characterization. That bottom 60% is literally in financial dire straits. The bread crumbs we throw to the freshman class of exploited whores is a rounding error. Thatâs like trying read a balance scale with peanuts while the thieves drive off with the gold.

Yeah I was being intentionally conservative. I just think that a large % of the total damage done to the bottom 60% was stuff that wasnât trade. Global trade was a big contributor but it wasnât alone. There are also the extremely extractive policies of the government + automation + other smaller stuff.
25% of republicans want trump impeached. That is massive. Rasmussen is a clown that stands out in a circus.

I think that is a fine headline. The details should be in the article. We shouldnât expect to be able to get away with just reading the headlines and consider ourselves informed.
This would be a massive loss for most Americans and would likely have a profound impact on everyone. Certainly would take a wrecking ball to peopleâs lifetime retirement projections as things become extremely volatile.

Sure if we are taking about Tonga. Russia is the 12th largest economy. Itâs ability to mess with other counties is not limited by its GDP.

GDP is a bad measurement for Russia. Their economic numbers bely the fact that their entire countries power structure is built around their intelligence apparatus, and that intelligence apparatus is fully integrated with a global crime syndicate that has its fingers in every illicit pie in the world. It bears mentioning that that global crime syndicate is a MUCH better source of human intelligence and soft power than anything the US has at its disposal wrt intelligence gathering. It also helps a lot with funding as itâs inherently quite profitable.
GDP is almost totally irrelevant to the soft power of the Russian state basically. They arenât optimizing for it like we are.

Got to be weird for non bad actors who are being told nothing was wrong with what anyone did but you can not talk about it at all.
(By non bad actors I donât mean good people but people in the machine who mostly believed what they were doing was ok)
It is just a weird place to put people in to say âWe did everything perfect! Hide everything from everyoneâ.
Plus I really do think these early interviews have been hugely important in securing more and I think it will continue to snowball. For the cogs in the wheel there is zero long term benefit in protecting the corrupt regime.

I donât think itâs lost on anyone further down the ladder that Paul Manafort is in prison from now on, Roger Stone is going to go to prison from now on, and that when this is all over literally dozens of people will get 5+ year prison sentences. Thereâs zero incentive to cooperate with probably illegal orders from above. In fact being the first to spill your guts has a real chance of being really good for your career.
