Russia has been able to inflame stuff that was already very much there. They are opportunistic in the extreme, but ultimately itās very reactive. They are attacking the weak points in their opponents not creating weak points. The way to beat them is to fix out weak points not blame the Russians for them existing. Thatās all on us.
Of course there were issues that Russia pinpointed and shined a light on, conservatism is an underlying symptom of the sickness that manifested itself in tRUmp.
But to think Russia hasnāt benefited and grown exponentially more influencial internationally is naive.

To an extent, yes. But a Europe of liberal democracies dependent on America is a more prosperous and stable situation for both.

Of course it is. I donāt know who these people are. US TV news is too bad to watch.
Of course the divisions in our, societies exist and are our own to deal with, but to claim that Russia isnāt intentionally exploiting and exacerbating those is just super naive.
As farfetched as you (and I) think a fascist Europe is, that is clearly Russiaās goal.

Yeah the Russian mob attacked our weak points dude. They didnāt create those vulnerabilities. Heās not carrying water for the Russian mob by pointing out that our own weakness got exploited.
The key requirement of a scam is that the victim let their guard down and trust someone they shouldnāt. The bottom 60% (really 80%) of the population is in a bad way and are extremely vulnerable right now. They have all kinds of resentments and real world problems that can all be weaponized against us by a variety of bad actors.
Youāre blaming the death of an AIDS patient on Legionnaires disease. The thing that actually kills you is usually a symptom of the root cause. The root cause is staggering inequality, a system utterly rigged against normal people, and the GOPās cultivation of a large group of suckers who get their news from their propaganda arm. Donald Trump is the opportunistic infection who, with Russian help to be sure, exploited all of those things to take over the country. To continue the sickness metaphor the Trump presidency is this country running a fever in an attempt to make things so uncomfortable for the root causes that they give some ground.
If Warren gets elected in 2020 thatāll be the cure starting to take hold. Hereās hoping.
