The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: ORANGE Gettin' PEACHed, Nation Goes BANANAS

I wrote a really long post that basically said what ViridianDreams did in 3 sentences, so instead, +1

Like we get it. There are no working methods within our legal system to force them to comply. They don’t exist.

If you were under the delusion that somehow this fight was going to end without getting a terrifying number of ordinary Americans seriously pissed off you were wrong.

White House’s move is strong evidence of obstruction, Schiff says

WTF, it’s not “evidence of obstruction”, it IS obstruction.

From the folks who brought you infrastructure week, it’s Trade Agreement Tuesday.

If nothing happens, Trump continues to further Russia’s interests while destroying (whatever is left of) the entire world’s faith in the USA. We continue our descent into chaos.

If things continue to ramp up and everybody in our government gets buckwild with it, even if it ultimately resolves with Trump’s removal, incalculable damage will be done to the image we and the rest of the world have of our nation and systems. And so much of that damage is already done.

I mean, well fucking played Vladimir Putin.

He is responding to people who think that is what WILL happen.

And if the outcome we want is to raise public awareness of how spineless congressional dems are in hopes that there will be a flurry of primary challengers and/or public shame, then cuse’s line seems pretty optimal.

Why would the Dems give Trump a win on his NAFTA replacement because they’re working on impeaching him?

Not really. It’s driven by Congress’s perception of public sentiment. If you want to impact it, call your Congress member’s offices daily. I’m not going to play make believe on an Internet forum hoping my wishcasting will influence Nancy Pelosi.

And for the record, I don’t have a problem with talking about what they should do. My issue is with pretending that what they should do is what they will certainly do, and shouting down anyone who dares to inject some reality. That’s just delusional.

Trump: I hereby authorize a one time payment of $1 trillion to Vladimir Putin to destroy the pee pee tape, which is real.

Democrats: I demand Steve Mnuchin testify as this is evidence of corruption.

Mnuchin: LOL NO, the fuck you gonna do about it?

Democrats: Mnuchin won’t testify, this is deeply troubling and is evidence of obstruction of justice.

The inherent contempt “line” is shoving in a 100BB stack with JJ UTG. It’s absurd.

Every step of the political process so far has improved the impeachment position. And there are many, many steps still in the playbook.

I do sympathize with LFS’s that every day we use up makes the world worse but that’s on Trump (putin), not us. America has to play to win our battles over the next 10 years, not 10 days.

The argument presented in the article is that in a world where Dems are moving forward on impeachment, they don’t want to be seen as too partisan, so they want to pass something with bipartisan approval. Since it’s apparently inconceivable to expect Senate Rs to take up any of the stuff the House has passed, the Ds think that they should move forward on the trade deal because it will actually pass.

It’s basically the same line Pelosi took in her press conference where she essentially argued, “why, yes, we are currently engaged in a process of removing the President from office because many of us consider him dangerously unfit for the position, but I’d really like you reporters to ask me about healthcare.”

Misplaying these 10 day battles makes it harder to win the 10 year ones.

I mean it’s exactly this. We have at least one prominent poster who has been incessantly posting that we are one chicken bucket eating episode or one Dem being for impeachment away from finally cracking the case which is obviously so far into fairy tale land that it borders on being completely unhinged from reality. There is no scenerio where the current crop of Dems will ever accomplish anything. So we need some combination of removing them and replacing them with actual liberals/progressive types AND winning general elections.

We all wish that wasn’t our reality but there is no sense burying our heads in the sand and breathlessly expecting there to be different outcomes when we have been shown time and time again that the Dem leadership has no intention of doing anything. And it’s mostly because they have no incentive to do anything. They can comfortably retain their seats and all that sweet sweet corporate money by doing it. They pay lip service to what the actual voters in their party want to appease them and then do nothing. Only the most gullible or people not paying attention can possibly see what has happened in the last 30-40 years another way.

Like it or not if you have been a long time Democrat and been going along with this (and still going along with this and making excuses for it like we see from some) you are a big part of the reason nothing will ever get accomplished.

Also here is the problem with the whole “This might hurt Trump and the Republicans at the polls” argument. Even IF there is a big landslide for the Dems in 2020 do you really see Chuck and Nancy leading the charge for any of the things we all want? Things like M4A, serious action on climate change, etc? I don’t see that happening.

And the reason why is obvious. They aren’t there to accomplish any of that stuff and their corporate masters would never allow it. All a big win in 2020 will do absent getting rid of some of the monsters on our side is going to be to further entrench them in the party power structure and nothing will really change. Yes we get rid of Trump for now, but nothing gets accomplished until we get Trump 2.0 and then resume the slide into the abyss.

There is literally no hope without first reforming the Dem party from within and that means successfully primarying a lot of these people.

Has this Sondland fellow ever been spotted in the same room as Jeffrey Ross?
