The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: ORANGE Gettin' PEACHed, Nation Goes BANANAS

Because they still wonā€™t comply, and within 2 hours Secret Service agents show up, and 10 minutes after them the FBI, and 5 minutes after that if necessary an entire unit from whichever Marine base is closest and if you really think that the DC police or whoever the f*** you roped into this scheme are just going to stand in the doorway and be like ā€˜But muh constitution!ā€™ then I weep for your poor fan fiction loving soul.

And donā€™t say Trump canā€™t or wonā€™t do that. Seriously. Donā€™t even make me feel that pity.

So you have gained nothing except making the House look like complete idiots, and the GOP pound for the next 60 days about how they narrowly avoided a coup.

I cannot believe I had to put this in black and white.

Thereā€™s a path around this and Trump ironically has shown us the way. What we need is a massively popular with the base leader who can threaten establishment Dems with a primary challenger. I think Elizabeth Warren is the right person for this job.

She can tell the Pelosiā€™s and Schumers that if they donā€™t get in line sheā€™s going to broadcast to absolutely everyone that they torpedoā€™d the liberal agenda and back a primary challenger. If they donā€™t cooperate she can do it and theyā€™ll probably lose their job.

Weā€™re currently watching the POTUS force his own party to eat shit basically every single day. I believe that heā€™s demonstrating the power of actually leading your party with some muscle. I loved Obama, but he was a much too reasonable guy.

This is why itā€™s so important for our candidate to win using our base instead of by tacking to the center. It gives them about 400% more political capital to spend once in office.

I must confess to not paying much attention to the Presidential Medal of Freedom under previous administrations, but for Trump to include Sheldon Adelsonā€™s wife, Art Laffer, and, now, Ed Meese, is quite the trifecta.

So your point is that they will ignore subpoenas and trump will literally call in the military and secret service to prevent some state department employee from being arrested? I mean if thatā€™s the case Iā€™d rather know now so I can just fucking leave the country. In any case the answer to that problem isnā€™t bending the knee to an authoritarian with the support of the armed forces.

This is a good post and I hadnā€™t really thought about it this way but I tend to agree. Obviously a Warren or Bernie makes that a possibility where a Biden or other more centrist candidates not so much. And as always there is the question of if any Dem, even Warren, will be willing to wield their maximum power once they get there. There is no real way to know that although it would be mighty disappointing to elect someone like Warren and then not see that happen.

catfacemeowners, I wonā€™t reply because I donā€™t think itā€™s helping the thread.

Cool.

Like. Why do you even care about impeachment favorability numbers if thatā€™s what you think Trumpā€™s response to arresting a government employee would be? What the hell does impeachment accomplish if thatā€™s where you think this ends up?

Breaking: Dotard to award Triple Crown winner Justify the Presidential Medal of Freedom

So much is possible when you arenā€™t a spineless weasel. Itā€™s really insane actually. The edems are cowards, but Warren absolutely isnā€™t. Just think back on how much the WH people dreaded her around the financial crisis because she wouldnā€™t let them off the hook. Expect that same energy once sheā€™s elected.

Sheā€™s going to get her anti corruption agenda through as well as the political reformsā€¦ and after those go through the political meta will never be the same again.

This is why I donā€™t care that her wealth tax is wishful thinking. Thatā€™s actually a good sign. It means sheā€™s figured out that we live in a post truth world and not everything she says has to be literally true. Once in office her priority is going to be systemic reform (which sheā€™s definitely not kidding about, anti corruption and unrigging the system is what sheā€™s passionate about) and that will probably consume almost her entire first term IRL. Sheā€™ll be saying ā€˜weā€™ll get to thatā€™ about the wealth tax in 2024 just watch.

So your take is that the Trump administration will go full militant dictator, and as a result we must let them ignore the law now to avoid that trauma?

Thatā€™s a boldly gutless strategy.

And if theyā€™re dumb enough to do what you think theyā€™ll do, it makes my strategy effective anyway. What percentage of Americans know the Trump administration is blatantly flaunting the rule of law right now? What percentage know the day after they send the army into Congress to bust Bill Barr out of a holding room?
