I disagree with âwidely known.â I mean, I wasnât that plugged in for that episode, certainly not compared to now, and while I might have been skeptical, I wasnât sure they were lies. I do still distinctly remember Jay Leno joking about a âhide the weapons dayâ when the inspectors had a day off. Maybe it was widely known among those who were dialed in, but that is very different from it being widely known.
I also remember reading the transcript of Obamaâs speech against the Iraq war and being deeply impressed that he knew before I did that it was an even dumber war that I suspected it might be at the time.
