An irony I hope plays out: Fox news was started by Ailes partly in response to Nixonās impeachment to give āregular peopleā (ie, ignorant shitheads) a voice. Sure Murdoch was deplorable to one degree or another and hated swells, but he mainly knew from his experience with tabloids that ignorant shitheads would spend money and attention to have their prejudices nurtured.
Itās not a coincidence that Clintonās impeachment happened only a few years after Fox got rolling. It was beating the drum hard, and I donāt think the information ecosystem had yet built up defenses to an information warfare channel that presented itself as āfair and balancedā. Jon Stewart (and, less influentially but more directly, Keith Olbermann) had to hammer on that point for a decade for people to get it.
Now that Trumpās impeachment is proceeding, if you will, on unimpeachable grounds, the fate of Fox, or at least its central purpose of information warfare, may be in peril. Either it hugs Trump and risks all credibility or it plays it straight and undermines the basic purpose for which it was created. It will probably try to strike a balance, but that may prove difficult.

No, but Nikki Haley could make some progress, which is why sheās the top alternative GOP nominee at $0.07 on predictit. Iām tempted to bet $10 on that. However, I think she loses hard to Warren, who is a better candidate that many give her credit for.
