Sadly, I think the most telling part of the video is at the beginning when she says âWeâll be watching youâ and the audience reacts with a chuckle, like the whole concept of being accountable to the public is a cute little in-joke. They expected her to pivot from that to a âThank you very much for having me, so excited to be hear!â hollow speech of the type that they are used to hearing. Of course it is great that she then proceeded to eviscerate them for their shameful inaction, but I donât think itâs going to stick. We all watch that and think âWow! Surely they will be moved, as I am, to feel shame and take action!â. No. The chuckles at the beginning show who they really are. They are secure and safe in their well paying, prestigious careers and they will âconsider both sides, be reasonableâ it right up until global catastrophe hurts everyone else orders of magnitude worse than it hurts them. And they will absolutely gaslight the public after with âno one thought it would be this badâ nonsense so they can sleep at night.
This honestly makes me so mad. My favorite person in the world is my wifeâs 8 year old niece who is smart, compassionate, and fucking deserves a future worth living.

Trumpâs order to withhold aid to Ukraine a week before his July 25 call with Volodymyr Zelensky is likely to raise questions about the motivation for his decision and fuel suspicions on Capitol Hill that Trump sought to leverage congressionally approved aid to damage a political rival. The revelation comes as lawmakers clash with the White House over a related whistleblower complaint made by an intelligence official alarmed by Trumpâs actions.
Republican senators on the Senate Appropriations Committee said Sept. 12 that the aid to Ukraine had been held up while the Trump administration explored whether Zelensky, the countryâs new president, was pro-Russian or pro-Western. They said the White House decided to release the aid after Sen. Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) threatened to freeze $5 billion in Pentagon funding for next year unless the money for 2019 was distributed.
Checking in with my NeverTrump center right father⌠He isnât sure if what Trump did with Ukraine is wrong, because thereâs no way to know for sure that Trump was doing it for partisan political gain⌠He thinks the president has the right to ask foreign governments to look into any US citizen who may have done something wrong, and unless Trump admits it we have no way of knowing that he was actually even doing this for partisan gain.
That hot take got me to start cursing in front of my mother, which is pretty rare for me.
Meanwhile, things are happening. Pelosi apparently had a meeting tonight with aides and Dem leadership to see how they feel. Dingell came out for impeachment.
I assume Nancy is going to write an even more strongly worded letter. But maybe sheâll finally step up.
