I was thinking some more about this.
The reason Kellyanne shames her daughter instead of helping her could be that she believes that shaming her IS helping her. The strict father approach assumes that children must be disciplined and punished to help them resist their authentic self and learn to first obey. Shame is one of the most effective tools to abuse someone into obedience.

Meth doesnât do a lot to destroy your body. Itâs the things you do (or donât do) when youâre on it. Why eat when you never feel hungry? You wonât even remember to brush your teeth. Youâll be too busyâman I donât even know what youâd be doing, but it wouldnât be productive and it wouldnât be healthy.
Itâs so stupid. All he had to say was he will continue to fight tirelessly to negotiate a fair deal for all Americans, then just continue to blame the Dems. His voters have already shown theyâll eat that up for three meals a day, yet his strategy is to now tell those people vote for me or else? I mean wtf?

My dad was a big practitioner of this. He thought that shame was a universal motivator. Never got that it just made me feel worse without making me want to improve.
