The Presidency of Donald J. Trump: Old man yells at cloud, presidential edition.

Sure but the inarguable stupidity of rich people’s kids it a significant factor in why estate taxes should be ramped up to provide opportunitiesfor poor people’s kids. Ivanka and Jared are also The People’s Exhibit #1 for:

How rich white privilege puts undeserving people in positions of power.

How performative liberalism by rich people masks atrocious rich person behavior

Still can’t get over him signing blank pieces of paper. It’s so amazing.

What’s worse is that they are able to blend into society and act normally if they need to.

I’m honestly surprised they don’t give him one of these.

That’s what I was getting at in my other comment about performative liberalism. They’re the kind of rich people that show up at fundraisers for the arts in NYC for example and learn to “talk the talk” so that they can get into the parties is the Hamptons that they want to get into. But there is absolutely nothing there behind the facade.

+1. The picture exil info is interesting, but everyone knows that even in the best of health he’s 90% in his bathrobe watching TV so the trickery is par for the course

I still think the moment in the video that everyone is going crazy about is just a suppressed burp.

Yeah, digital video can do all kinds of funky stuff, especially in lower light settings. Artefacts, random discoloration and distortion etc. It’s why there was such a resurgence of lizard-people stuff when broadcast TV went digital.

That said, it’s entirely plausible there’s a cut. I kind of don’t care? Like, so what? They edited out a cough, who cares?

Sorry, but I gotta go into the skeptical column about the jump cut. I don’t see how he could cough without moving his hands or some other part of his body out of position. I don’t see how they could get his hands back into precisely the same position and same spot on the table. It looks like a hiccup or something.

Meantime, I wonder if this illness is anything like whooping cough, which I think I had in 2003. It was the weirdest virus or cold I ever had. I felt pretty decent most of the time, but out of nowhere I would start coughing my brains out, and after the coughing jag I would start gasping for air. It felt a little like how you feel when you’ve had the wind knocked out of you and you’re just starting to resume breathing. When it happens frequently enough, you don’t freak out when it happens. Anyway, I can’t picture Trump wanting to do live tv for a while because he could probably bust out into a coughing fit at any time.

Yeah I think it was edited, but I’m confused about why anyone thinks this matters. He probably started coughing. We already know he developed a cough. He’s sick and wouldn’t want to sit up doing 800 takes until he manages not to cough in one. I don’t get why it’s evidence of anything nefarious.

Put me on team “who cares if it was edited, but they’re obviously lying about everything and the most likely explanation is he’s legitimately very sick.”

What did you think of the first video? I didn’t see any visual cues but there’s a robotic similarity between the two identical phrases used to describe his and Melania’s condition. It’s also lacking his usual voice inflection.

The weirdest part is how Pence can possibly be negative given his proximity to so many positive people.

The edit feeds into the narrative that they’re pathological liars who are incapable of ever being forthright. While this isn’t news to anyone with a functioning brain stem, in the context of virtually no response to the pandemic and 208,000+ dead Americans, it’s just another pallet on the dumpster fire and makes it that much harder to ignore.

#blessed

Plus he only goes near men so cuts out half of the possible routes of infection.

Probably none. And for anyone else the normal reaction would be, as many have said here, “they cut out a cough from a sick guy.” But the pervasive dishonesty of this administration wins them no leeway for a harmless edit but instead everything becomes a “what are they hiding” question. They brought this upon themselves by perpetuating meaningless conspiracies for years. Now they’re on the other side having to defend against one for once.

Waay back when, they were rolling tape in the oval when reince priebus (i think) coughed and trump threw a mini fit and they reshot the scene.

It’s fine if it’s edited. It’s the North Korean-style “you’re not seeing what you see” that’s laughable and evil. How many presidential addresses in the past had administration/campaign insiders spiking the football over how many takes it took?
