This is the most accurate take, re: gmos. Itā€™s useful and important technology, but like so many other things we have allowed companies to abuse it in the name of profit and our unhealthy love affair with capitalism.

Meh, why not just expand the court. If you remove any of the justices, especially one that is as well liked as ACB is, itā€™s going to cause additionally unnecessary backlash. Expanding the court Accomplishes effectively the same thing but gives conservatives one less thing to be bitter about.

Didnā€™t Monsanto go around suing farmers who didnā€™t buy roundup ready if they found the genetic strains in their crops? Which can easily happen due to natural genetic forces.

Seems like the problem is a capitalist society that serves big corporate interests foremost, and everything else secondarily.

I used to worry about population, but Iā€™m on board with the 1bn Americans idea. Problem is that kids are so expensive and limited support for families means that no first world countries are at replacement level. We need to import like 10M people a year for the next 50 years. Cut down greenhouse gases, build up middle America, and start bringing over more people.

Yeah 5-4 went over this but packing the court is far and away the best option. Most of the other options wont undue all the pain the current court has and will inflict.

I would like to take away the ability to patent genes, to decrease the incentive and ability for this type of behavior.

Itā€™s almost like if Trump held Russian Roulette rallies. Ok, everyone, cheer for me while you pass around a gun and spin the chamber!

I think the law is , believe it or not, you can buy roundup ready cotton seed, plant said seed , harvest the cotton, but may not plant the seeds from the cotton you grew. complete fuckery

East TN market is going to include NC and VA, so probably not a total waste

Disagree with this take. The goal is to get meat eaters to choose an alternative. If they like burgers, but want to help the environment, this is an excellent alternative. Using plant proteins to simulate meat, and hopefully to one day soon be able to produce meat like substances on a large scale, is going to be a huge boon for our society in the fight against climate change

pivot to a new derail, or are you making parallels between technologies? crispr wheat is relatively new and expensive, gun technology is very old and relatively cheap. regulation are necessary for both. :man_shrugging:

BAHAHAHAHAHA

The last population increase the planet needs is more middle Americans.

Yeah I donā€™t get this take at all. Why wouldnā€™t we simulate meat with meat substitutes? Meat is literally destroying the planet.

As for my preferred milk substitute, I choose oat milk. Tastes fine. I mean Iā€™m not sitting there drinking glasses of milk like Iā€™m a child in the 1980s anyways.

No sir. He thinks you are the greatest president ever. First he called you Abraham Lincoln, now GEORGE Washington.
