Leads to frequent settlements with large businesses/billionaire family trusts for like <10% of what they owe along with a promise that they definitely won’t do it again …

At the start of the year I thought it would be a straight Colorado for Alabama trade, with maybe a 50/50 shot in Maine. It still could be that, but the fact that even Kansas isn’t a sure thing has me slightly optimistic. That Kansas seat hasn’t been occupied by a Democrat since the Woodrow Wilson administration.

I mean, I"m literally on day 10 of spending 14 days with my daughter who is in mandatory quarantine because her kindergarten teacher tested positive. If I allowed my daughter to leave the house I’d be guilty of a fucking misdemeanor. But this asshole who is actually COVID+ can go on a parade? Jesus Fucking Christ.

I’m not aware of the law side of things here, just the medical side of things. Maryland may have whatever rules they have. Doctors have a pretty strict set of criteria that they can hold people on. While that has been used to hold people with typhoid and tuberculosis, I’m not aware of anyone doing that for COVID. Doesn’t make trump right or whatever, just means there’s very strict limits on physicians unilaterally deciding that you no longer have your freedom.

I mean, I’m pretty sure Trump is exempt from state and local DOH orders because he’s the President, but yeah, my daughter is under a quarantine order from our local DOH. Disregarding that quarantine order is a crime. And my daughter doesn’t even have fucking COVID. Just fucking unbelievable that this hospitalized COVID+ asshole can do whatever the fuck he wants.

I’m quite confident any private citizen trying to waltz out of the hospital with COVID would be physically stopped by law enforcement and likely charged with a crime.
