It’s tangentially relevant given that some dude recently apologized for saying tone deaf which he went on to classify as ableist language. But, uhh:
What’s more, Walker’s apology has left me so confused. Was he apologizing to tone-deaf people, or to deaf people? Because they’re completely different.
“Tone deaf” means “relatively insensitive to musical pitches,” according to Merriam-Webster. Deaf means “lacking or deficient in the sense of hearing.”
I’m deaf. Don’t know anyone that gives a shit about tone deaf. But not capitalizing the D will piss a lot of deaf people off. Personally, it doesn’t bother me if you say deaf or Deaf.
Trump literally killing Chris Christie would really be the feather in the cap of one of the most humiliating associations in political history. Chris was one of the earliest endorsers of Trump, tried to get VP, was almost offered it, then was repeatedly humiliated in his attempts to secure a position in the administration. Ended up with nothing. Stays loyal and catches covid in service to Trump. Sad!
Chris Christie is weird. I don’t get him. Well I guess I do - he’s basically just a craven political power chaser. He doesn’t seem to be a wild Trumper, nor completely a “true believer.” He’s a prick (see, among other things, the bridge bullshit), but I’ve seen him talk to people in an understanding, human, compassionate, reasonable way.
Also, he gets a bonus point for leading the legal online poker charge in the U.S.
