I think anyone who didn’t object to electoral votes and who hasn’t said they are against impeachment should be counted as at least a maybe. I think we’re going to pick up some of those votes.

Yeah, it’s weird, not a popularity thing, don’t think it’s a donor thing either. Dude is just a radical centrist at heart. In this case, belief that there is limited amount we can add to the deficit for stimulus and none of it should to savings accounts of people who “don’t need it”/weren’t affected by COVID.
Not all of the GOP were on board with the fantasy. His whole life has been lying, cheating, and finding loopholes to make him appear to be a winner and his narcissistic pea sized brain couldn’t understand why he couldn’t also cheat and lie his way out of an election loss. He never had a chance at overturning the election and this… Finally… Was his undoing imo

Relatedly, I do think the “slightly more competent Trump” stuff is super interesting, for two reasons.

I think it’s correct—we are very clearly super susceptible to authoritarianism here in America. A “slightly more competent Trump” certainly could have won another term, and it seems like at that point ~everything would have been on the table. That’s worth thinking about and, to the degree that it’s possible, trying to address.

What does slightly more competent Trump look like? I think at least some part of Trump’s appeal to his legions of fanpigs is that he’s an idiot just like them and they know it. I don’t know how easy it is for someone to fake this stuff. Like we see Hawley et al try to pull it off, I’m not sure they’re very effective.
Then again, you’ve got the megachurch types, Joel Ostein etc., so maybe it’s just that WAAF well and truly.

Also I feel like it would be better if we had these guys getting a good night’s sleep prior to potentially needing to make a series of very intense split-second life and death decisions.
I don’t mind these guys being a little grumpy on gameday tbh
