thats when they’ll feel like deadly force is justified, when the mob tries to take down the wall
It’s pretty much the same as if they do it on the 21st I guess.
Except as noted, 100 days is more than enough time for Rs to completely retcon the whole thing as antifa or w/e.
She’s also a 5’1" tall woman and you’re like a 300lb all-state wrestler or something.
or you know, maybe don’t openly lament that you lost 50k neo-nazi followers. these people are so desperate for an audience, it’s downright grotesque.
Yes, I agree. They drag him out and then beat him and you would never know it’s a cop until you’re able to piece it together with the still shots from above and see it’s all the same people around his prone body. Makes me sick to see it, but this stuff needs to get out there to wake people the fuck up.
Delaying the impeachment trial in the Senate frees up time for the Senate to do other things like confirming Biden’s Cabinet selections. It also gives the House time to put together evidence that they may only find out about after the change of administrations.
At least that’s a little more serious than what my guess would have been: that he was charged with having open containers of alcohol in his vehicle.
maybe putin was right, and it started with someone throwing a plastic cup.
I don’t think we need anything more than what we have now as far as reasons for impeachment
I don’t either. Someone asked what the logic was for delaying it.
I don’t expect you to have the answers. I don’t have them either. Just exploring the topic with someone whose experience and insight I value.
What might you do to account for these effects?
Just as interested in what you wouldn’t do if that’s easier.
Ty.
First noting, as you said, this isn’t your position, so I’m just responding to your description with a hypothetical counter.
It’s fair to say there are reasons for delaying impeachment. I’d even say that’s fine if they actually did all of those things and then still impeached and convicted him regardless of whether there is still overwhelming public outcry. Tempers will cool. The intensity of our immediate emotions shouldn’t solely determine the content of our decisions.
But I see two major objections to delay.
- If the public loses a sense of urgency, so will Congress/the Senate, and thus it will never happen.
- If our representatives and senators truly see it as sedition worthy of impeachment, waiting to remove him sends the message that sedition isn’t really that bad.
number 1 reason to impeach is to set a structural precedent. stopping an armed coup via constitutional removal is a matter of 48-72 hours, and we are already outside of that timeframe. the fucker is saved by the weekend again.
three months gives actual authoritarians way too much time.
This.
Trump is more dangerous now than he was on Wednesday morning.
I guess 9 years is a relatively short stay on death row, but I don’t know about “rather quckly”.
I, for one, am surprised he has the time to do this in between making many phone calls and having many meetings. The man is a workhorse.
cliff notes are an impeachment trial will delay sitting the cabinet and everything else they want to get done asap and trump won’t be in office during the trial anyway
I don’t see how a bunch of senators being beaten to death on Facebook Live would have somehow empowered Trump to declare himself President 4 Lyfe. Do you really believe the CIA, FBI and Pentagon are about to let the orange asshole become a dictator?
well I did not see climbing over the wall into mexico as the plan of escape
