toomey was on Jake Tapper’s show and just now on meet the press, both asked him if he regretted voting for trump and his answer was that same old baloney about “radical leftist democrats” and of course neither sleepy eyes chuck todd nor tapper pushed back on this. Joe Biden’s whole appeal to obama as a VP pick was the fact that he’s essentially a republican. Anyone pushing this “radicalization of the left” line should absolutely be hammered to justify that claim.

FWIW I’ve changed my opinion on “personal responsibility” in this instance too. I don’t keep up with the news like many here and while I knew about what happened, I really dove into last night. It appears there many channels coordinating this effort. Every single person there should be rounded up and prosecuted to the full extent. I still think we can go easier on the grandmas and clueless, but I guess prosecutors can make judgments on a case by case. Also, after reading more about the 6th and the people who comprised the crowd, I think your friend may be right and this might be just the beginning with these people
To hell with the Patriot Act and taking away more freedoms. We just need to throw the book at every single hate crime no matter how small. Attacking a church shouldn’t be much different than scrawling hateful graffiti on its walls. There needs to be stiff penalties. I did read up on that Oklahoma city bombing and it seems that guy was executed rather quickly. I don’t believe in the death penalty and this might sound rather silly, but I don’t see much space between blowing up a building and hanging a noose in front of a black church or desecrating a mosque. Both are terrorist acts in my view and should be prosecuted equally imo
