It’s a big, compelling thread. You never know how much is bluster and attacking the inauguration seems unwise to me, but…
It’s starting to really dawn on me that:
1)We were all gleefully watching this go down as cops and MAGA shitheads beat and maced each other, little did we know what was about to unfold. We almost watched members of congress likely executed on our live stream. We are very lucky that didn’t happen,
2)Trump did a lazy real coup and,
3)Trump isn’t going to go down as just the worst president ever but likely him and his family will be seen as literal traitors permanently. Imagine reading this story in a history book 100 years from now? Trump’s entire legacy will be this. He likely ruined not only himself but his entire family.
That’s the best outcome Trump would have, and it’d be a world historical nightmare.

i made the same conclusion earlier. he doesn’t have a dick cheney level guy behind the scenes who could pull off a coup. it’s just trmp trying to get loyalists to do basic sabotage until the guardrails are broken. he’s not a good planner, he just throws pasta at the wall and begs for favors.
I talked to one of the smarter people I know today for a bit about all this. He is normally very measured about everything and I would label him as more moderate than most here but is a definite lefty.
His take pretty much stunned me. He is convinced this is just the beginning of fairly widespread right wing violence for the foreseeable future. He correctly pointed out that there really isn’t anyone to save us and predicted assassination attempts on Dem politicians. Maybe some Republican ones too. It scared the hell out of me because he is the farthest thing I know of from a conspiracy nut. In fact he is normally the one telling me why I am too pessimistic about various things.
For profit of course. I was initially surprised when Trump got perma banned, but I guess Twitter and FB are big enough platforms they don’t really need the clown show in the center ring to attract business. But if Trump does fade away into the night, I legit wonder how MSM will adapt their business model to keep viewers rapt and in a constant state of ire. Will people like Rick Santorum be enough?
