“That was a heavily trained group of militia terrorists that attacked us," he said. "They had radios, we found them, they had two-way communicators and earpieces. They had bear spray. They had flash bangs …They were prepared. They strategically put two IEDs, pipe bombs in two different locations. These guys were military trained. A lot of them were former military,” the veteran said, referring to two suspected pipe bombs that were found outside the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee and the Republican National Committee.

The officer even described coming face to face with police officers from across the country in the mob. He said some of them flashed the badges, telling him to let them through, and trying to explain that this was all part of a movement that was supposed to help.

“You have the nerve to be holding a blue lives matter flag, and you are out there fucking us up,” he told one group of protestors he encountered inside the Capitol. “[One guy] pulled out his badge and he said, ‘we’re doing this for you.’ Another guy had his badge. So I was like, ‘well, you gotta be kidding.’”

He gets mentioned here from time to time, but to me one of the most contemptible carriers of water for this administration has been Hugh Hewitt. If you want to make a Jerry West like logo for people who knew better every step of the way, he would be it. So this was a decently satisfying thread, although if you’re not a fan of the Lincoln Project genre, you can skip.

I still think Trump removal is DOA in the Senate, but there seems to be real momentum behind expelling Hawley and maybe Cruz. Literally everyone hates them, especially Hawley because nobody was going to object until he did.

Not that I would oppose it, but expel them for what?

This Garrison cartoon is important if it shows where maga land is at. GOP needs every single maga vote.

Probably a few years for this one. I’m really curious about the monuments act thing.

Including UP

if it were blm/antifa, trmp would use the doj to kill and injure hundreds, imprison thousands, declare martial law, stop biden’s certification and inauguration, and purge officials. Basically start going the erdogan route.

instead he couldn’t decide what to do during the vote count, and was genuinely upset noone really rigged it for him, and decided to yolo with the lives of his last rally

Is that Bernie 5th in line?

This is so true. It’s sad what it says about current US politics–you can go right up to the line of sedition and face no consequences.

What would things look like today if Trump lost the popular vote, won electoral college, and the gop won the Senate? We were very close to that reality and need at least two more lines of defense to prevent it.

Dealing with this should be the TOP Biden priority but I suspect he and his team are living in a fantasy land of appeasement.
