The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode XIV: T-minus 97 Hours

How dumb is it if there are no real consequences. I guess we’ll see if any of these arseholes actually do suffer real time but it does seem awfully just slap on the wrist for a lot of them. Maybe them all becoming somewhat unemployable is enough for some.

Marco Rubio imo

My own twist:

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew

Then they came for the Senators and I did not speak out—
Even though I’m Lyndsey Graham

I’m not hand wringing about what may happen to them, I’m reading the language some here are using and being dismayed at where all this will eventually go.

Heritagenothate has moved from “it was antifa!!” to “the dems did the same thing during Kavanaugh”…lol he’s a couple days behind the others

They would of hung them from the Senate rafters to the cheers of the podium and hat guy. That was just for show.

Lol, it’s like when Trump compares his Covid response to the swine flu response. Ah yes, Kavanaugh, who can forget those hearings, When leftists stormed the Capitol, and Alyssa Milano wearing a Viking helmet sat in Pence’s seat.

You don’t need to wait till the guy in the auschwitz camp shirt commits genocide before calling him a nazi. Come on, ted.

(2 isn’t true, she voted for it but ya know standard cruz)

I want the FBI to have access to their cell phone location history.

Can’t they just have lethal weapons at easy access? Why is this a decision that has to be made now?

This is absurd. Anyone with an internet connection could plainly see they needed to send as many people as possible. I can’t fathom any explanation other than complicity, though I suppose stupidity is theoretically possible.

Nice writing. But that same exact text will be used on a thousand people the next time someone sets a fire at a police station during a protest against police brutality. After all, lots of people in that crowd will have called for the overthrow of the US Government. Treason should not be a crime.

This is where that’s going:

Article 105, Paragraph 2, 1997 Criminal Code of the People’s Republic of China (translation by Wei Luo):

“Anyone who uses rumour, slander or other means to encourage subversion of the political power of the State or to overthrow the socialist system, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years. However, the ringleaders and anyone whose crime is monstrous shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than five years.”[1]

I suppose there’s some chance that the fact that the upper echelons of our government including the DOD have been gutted by Trump and replaced by acting toadies could mean that incompetence is part of it.

I’m sure they’ve done a reverse search warrant for every cell phone that came near the capitol.

I am surprised that Bezos hasn’t yanked parler off of AWS yet, tbh.

Appeasement is bad.

This “the dems/BLM/antifa did the same thing” stuff is something else. Number one, no they didn’t. Number two, it’s pretty easy for me to say “I am not necessarily happy that those small businesses’ windows were broken, but that crowd has legitimate grievances and seemingly no other way to address them” while also saying “I am against everything those MAGA chuds stand for, their grievances are not legitimate, and they should all be locked up”.
