Yes, a 16 year old knows if you break into a building that has armed security you can be shot. This is not in any way controversial. A 6 year old does not know this. Every 16 year old does.

It’s a binary world and it should be clear what side I’m not on. In theory, there should be some sort of center-left coalition against them and that coalition needs to be bound together by a sense that the right wing is an other, an existential threat that must be defeated.

Re: Rs impeaching Trump, obviously that’s much more speculative but he just lost them two very winnable Senate seats and said he was happy about it, literally started an insurrection of Congress and is now spending all his energy berating Pence for not helping with his coup.
Clearly Trump is not going away and it’s becoming crystal clear he is going to war w/ establishment Rs at some point, it’s at least plausible that they would decide now is the time to rip the bandaid off while he is at a super low point.

It had been my estimation that we inherited this bullshit from the English, but it turns out Robert’s Rules are way younger than I thought, and Robert was American.
This country was ripe for a full blown takeover and no one even knew it. The security (or lack of it) around the Capitol blows my fucking mind. How lucky are we that the people who decided to test said security were complete dumbfucks with no agenda and no plan? The tiniest bit of organization or competence on their part and we’re in a totally different situation right now, likely involving hostages and public executions.

I haven’t seen the video (grunched thread, but if someone could post link again that would be great), but I agree it was a good shoot.
I think the strongest argument for bad shoot is that the police were just letting them LARP at will and do whatever the fuck they wanted. In some instances they were helping. So if the cops have basically set the expectation that there will be no force and no consequences, I can see how one might be taken aback by a cop suddenly deciding to act reasonably.
There have to be 17 GOP Senators secure enough to vote to remove. I’m too lazy to go down the list but JFC what a bunch of cowards. There are like 10 that would benefit from clearing him from the 2024 field.

It’s not clear because you could be trolling. You post like someone would post if they were trying to make their ostensible side look bad. I think this less than I used to think because, if it’s an act, you’ve kept it up for a long time. But, it still seems that way sometimes.

I think some of them (zip tie guy) might have had a plan but didn’t get to carry it out.
It’s not like this is a unified body. A brilliant strategy would be to let the first wave go in as a bunch of unarmed dipshit protesters, then sneak in behind with real weapons or just enough manpower to take congresspeople hostage.
The first wave doesn’t need to have any idea about this plan. You only need a dozen or so serious people coming in behind.
If that was like BLM or some Muslim gang or whatever they all would have been gunned down before they reached the front steps. Security failed because they didn’t try.
