I think it was. Were they supposed to let them waltz right into the chamber and start taking hostages or worse? I would have been fine if they started shooting when the mob reached the front doors/windows. But the reality is they should have been blasted back with tear gas and batons and rubber bullets before it ever got to that point.

That specific point of the Capitol Building was the Speaker’s Lobby, which has the entrance to the House Chamber.
If you are not using deadly force at that point, then you’re arguing that the mob should be allowed to waltz into the room where all the Representatives are.
