If we had any sort of way to hold him accountable (like, say, a NY Times interested in things other than playing both sides), it would be screamed from the heavens that states like Illinois and NY pay substantially more than they receive from the Federal Government, while shitholes like Kentucky take in way more than they pay.

said just after a multi trillion dollar bailout of poorly run companies.

In reality, sure. But where Trumpā€™s cult lives, in pure us vs. them fictional narratives with no connection to the outside world, why not assume that Real American subsidizes Corrupt Liberal Coastal America (including Illinois, somehow)? It all fits in their twisted minds.

Seriously this thing where rich liberal states massively subsidize poor red states really is going to be the cause of death for the USA as a political entity. It makes almost no sense for the citizens of most of the nicer states to be in the Union anymore. I live in TX and Iā€™m 99% sure TX would be radically better off as its own country at this point. The USD is the only positive thing any of those states get, and its strength 100% comes from the USAā€™s ability to tax them.

If the USD stops being a global reserve currency this thing is over. CA doesnā€™t actually need the rest of the country, and neither do most of the other large/rich states. CA, NY, and TX could all be extremely self sufficient if push came to shove. They would, of course, take most of their neighboring states with them.

The alternative is the Southeastern states being kicked out of the union. KY, TN, AR, LA, MS, AL, GA, SC, WV, and FL donā€™t really do much for the rest of the country economically. Atlanta is the only redeeming thing in that entire region from an economic perspective. The rest of it could disappear tomorrow and the rest of the nation would strictly speaking be better off. FL mostly makes that list because of the ridiculous cost climate change is going to inflict on it over the next 50 years.

The very first thing TX would do as a country is move the capital back to Houston and completely crush every single progressive policy enacted by cities like Austin. It is well behind the curve on most issues with a political establishment that wants nothing more than to drag it even further backwards, and the state as a whole is far less purple than many want to believe.

Eh. The cities in Texas run Texas now. The mayor of Houston is an African American and a Democrat. What Texas has always been is a single party state. When it flips itā€™ll be fully blue not purpleā€¦ and that day is coming soon.

To be clear almost 85% of the population of Texas is in urban areas now.

Yep. And if Trump canā€™t give us any information, then nobody can give us any information?

I wonder if this will get covered live? Iā€™m sure youā€™ll be able to watch the full video after itā€™s over.

Florida produces like 70% of the vegetables for the entire east coast in the winter. Itā€™s also around top 5 beef producers.

We import plenty of produce from Mexico without it being part of the country. Trust me on this I handled four loads of it out of Edinburg, TX last week.

Your claim was that Florida doesnā€™t do much for the country economically. It has the 4th largest economy in the Union.
