Assuming a competent press corps, the obvious next question is “Mr. President, you said 5 weeks ago that there were 15 cases very quickly going to zero. Are you now saying that having 60,000 more deaths than you predicted is a good thing?” or some variation thereof. Just keep pounding him on his outlandish moving of goalposts. He doesn’t give a shit, and couldn’t care less about 60K dead, but just keep pounding him.

Many (most?) haven’t officially closed for the year yet. There are still a whole lot of people wishcasting everything goes back to the way it was before the end of the month.
That’s the case in most schools throughout Europe as well.

I agree. I can’t see any k-12 schools opening for the final part of this year.
We are not even at the peak anywhere really. I don’t know how many or why anyone would go back when it is magnitudes worse right now than when they closed.
