“Us” is being defined as domestic oil and gas producers who are mad b/c the Saudis and Russians can produce their oil more cheaply, so when the price gets too low, domestic producers can’t turn a profit.

Yeah, me too. Its weird how it crept up. I lived in the UK for a while and just came back, the yay troops shit is so much worse than when I left (we were just invading Iraq (2nd time) at the time).

According to wiki Saudi and Russia both produce around 10m barrels of oil a day. Pretty hard to think Trump’s tweets are accurate or based on fact even. Russia cutting 15m barrels of oil a day down to -5m barrels of oil per day! Thank you, working hard!

I agree which is why I bought oil puts this morning. When this is found out to be BS or just plain forgotten about in the next 24 hours it will head back to $20/barrel.
We currently have people willing to go to jail (or potentially die) to do this. I think we’ll see a huge slingshot effect as soon as mandated restrictions lift. People get a little crazy when they get their first taste of freedom in weeks, months, years. But maybe you’re right. I hope so.

Man, I hated George W. Bush more than I can put into words, and I still appreciated his leadership immediately after 9/11. This is an absolute layup situation for a President and he just can’t behave like a semi-human. Dude is just plain broken, even if he wanted to lead he couldn’t.

Note the word “immediately.” His speech the next day was legitimately good, and he went out of his way to repeatedly hammer home a tolerant message.
I suppose. idk, I feel like overall that speech didn’t really help anyone and it just gave the Republicans cover to ramp up the fascism while the West Wing Dems gushed over how tolerant and presidential he seemed.
I think Republicans are more savvy at recognizing that so much of this is just performative BS he had to say to keep the Dems happy.

I kind of feel like that’s the point. Merely sounding like a decent human is all that is required to get high marks in a catastrophe. Cuomo fucked up everything that matters to start this thing off, but his press conferences come with PowerPoint so his approval ratings have skyrocketed. Trump can’t even manage to sound mammalian let alone decent.
