The “first Presidential impeachment where X, this is unprecedented” defense is hilarious. First of all, it’s not even true for half of the things the Republicans substitute for X. Second, there were two other Presidential impeachments ever. Who cares if it’s unprecedented? It was unprecedented the first time someone got locked up for beating his wife, doesn’t mean the guy should’ve gone free.

Hard to have a specific criminal statute when impeachment is a political process and witnesses testified last week that a president doesn’t have to commit a crime in order to be impeached.

So a Saudi National goes on a shooting rampage at an American Navy Base and one or two more Saudi nationals tape the event, and Trump doesn’t even utter the word “terrorism”? Forget about him saying “radical Islamic terrorism”. Instead, he rants about how devastated the Saudis are about this, and how their people love us so much. But they give us money, so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
