Yeah, it’s gonna be bizarre watching Trump yell on Twitter that Coronavirus is all fake news and his cult of idiots will believe it completely.
I’m not rooting for the Coronavirus but there is something poetic about the first real non self inflicted crisis of the Trump era hitting the demographics responsible for his election directly. He’s setting up to kill a BUNCH of his supporters right here, and yeah we’re drawing live to them turning on him if this gets bad. The mortality rate for people over the age of 60 is BRUTAL on this one.

What benefit do you have from a crash?
It’s a huge buying opportunity. Housing prices will fall. Stock prices will fall. It’s better for it to happen now for us than later. It’s also probably going to lead to the monetization of the debt which will cause the value of the dollar to drop which will reduce the effective size of our debt.
There are a lot of reasons to root for a crash as a middle class millennial tbh.

Good thoughts. I actually decided last month to just move into a 2 bedroom apartment instead of buying a house. Seeming like a great decision right now.
It’s almost like Trump cronies are idiots who have no real world operational competence in anything and this is about to turn into a real legit no shit hairy problem that would have strained the abilities of actually talented/competent people.
I’m NOT remotely happy about the human toll this is going to take… but the silver lining is that this has strong potential to be the emperor has no clothes moment the country has needed since early 2017.

I have relatively stable employment and will be a net purchaser of stocks for the next few decades, so lower prices is an advantage. It’d also be nice to see rental or housing prices go down, especially because I live in a major city and pay a fuckton in rent.
The flip side is that I am relatively safe but millions of people my age won’t be. They aren’t in a stable job and aren’t looking towards retirement, and this country doesn’t have the social safety net it needs to support them through a crash. I’m aware of the selfishness of my position.
I also hope that any crash results in popular opinion shifting towards policies that could help working people weather future recessions, but let’s be honest we’ll probably just get even more reactionary and racist. We obviously didn’t learn anything from 2008.
