Axios story about Mitch filling a SC seat this year if possible:
McConnell refused to hold confirmation hearings or a vote that year on President Obama’s nominee Merrick Garland, arguing that that the Senate and presidency belonged to different parties and that the vacancy shouldn’t be filled until the next president is inaugurated.
I don’t really remember the bolded being part of the argument at the time. Am I crazy or is axios going full retcon?
He’s clarified since that it was the most essential part of it, hence they’d obviously fill a seat in 2020.
IIRC he never said bolded until after 2016 but claims that was part of the reasoning.
I’m pretty sure he didn’t say it at the time, but as soon as he realized it could apply he did.

Honestly its super annoying Mitch hasn’t really broken any laws so I can’t even fantasize about him going to jail.
If the Democrats win the Senate in 2020, McConnell would schedule a confirmation vote on January 2, 2021 if a vacancy opened up the week after Christmas.
Not gonna say I’ve imagined him getting Randed by a next-door neighbor, but…
I’m pretty sure he’s broken the law re: his wife’s business.
I allegedly hope the next time he goes to the theater and gets popcorn that the butter is a little too hot and unevenly spread across the bucket. And maybe when he gets to the the last third, he finds a bunch of somehow undercooked and overcooked kernels.
