The White House proposes to cut spending by $4.4 trillion over a decade. Of that, it targets $2 trillion in savings from mandatory spending programs, including $130 billion from changes to Medicare prescription-drug pricing, $292 billion from safety-net cuts—such as work requirements for Medicaid and food stamps—and $70 billion from tightening eligibility access to federal disability benefits.
This. Optics matter more than people would like to admit. There are a lot of intangibles that make someone a good messenger. Some of these politicians lack those qualities. Bernie seems to have them for the left. I think that’s why the establishment dems are so shook. He doesn’t follow their playbook. He runs around calling himself a socialist and listing himself as an independent, but has an ability to energize people the way no one else on the left really has. I am really hoping the DNC comes to their senses and embraces him, choosing the candidate that the voters seem to love over more conventional candidates that can’t get people out of their seats the way Bernie does.
Hmmm, what Dem candidate is the best at hammering the exact same lines for a couple decades without wavering?
You are absolutely right that this is the play. Bernie is the one who understands the value in this. He just also happens to be the one best positioned to credibly attack on corruption.
It’s like that moment in The American President where Michael Douglas is like lol we have a huge majority approval. LET’S USE IT and pass impossible shit.
Trump is doing the same thing with a record 49% approval.
3 billion for 60k beds? Man, can’t we run our concentration camps on a more reasonable budget? I’ll bet FDR’s internment camps cost way less than that.
