I’m so old I remember when Melania and other R’s pretended to get upset someone talked about someone’s kid and now here’s Trump insulting Great Thunberg and obviously crickets.
Turns out when some dipshit adds billions of dollars to the cost of raw materials manufacturing slows down, who knew?

Also it turns out that promising to bring back manufacturing jobs when late stage automation is in progress is super fucking stupid.
The ridiculous thing is that the actual process of manufacturing is absolutely coming back to the US… because thanks to Automation labor is now a borderline trivial input for manufacturers, and transporting stuff from China is expensive.
There are a lot of politicians who don’t know anything, at all, about manufacturing or logistics generally much less the current trends. The current trend is wall to wall robots in distribution centers and manufacturing plants. In the next 12 months Amazon and UPS won’t be using humans to load trucks anymore.
I say all this as a guy who is in the business of transporting products used to automate distribution centers and factories… that segment of my business has been growing by 30-40% a year since I got into logistics. The rest of my business is flat or slightly down, but the automation people are blowing up year after year.
