Trying to remember the name of it, but the wiki on the Obama era programme to train rebels in Syria is decent, and covers that it was cancelled supposedly because the arms were getting to guys too bad for the US. I heard an interview with an ex special forces who had been part of it, and said part of the real reason was because the people tasked with training were disgusted with who they were training. Obviously the last is anecdote, but not a surprising one.
Trump judge or not, she’s right. I have the same damn question. Throw their asses in jail if they don’t comply, and let the courts’ role be sorting out whether they should be released.
I wonder if the reason the USA ends up doing shit like this isn’t because Harvard/Yale guys with an overabundance of hubris send 20-something Harvard-McKinsey pukes in to decide who the good guys are instead of adults.

Always a fun thought exercise to imagine the amount of screamingly angry coverage this would have gotten on Fox had it been a dem president.

EO 12333 2.11 “No person employed by or acting on behalf of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, assassination.” -signed by President Ronald Reagan 12-4-1981
Don’t think there have even been any polls since the strike.
Meh. There are plenty of deplorable-heavy neighborhoods in NYC. Most of my family lives in one.
Virtually every administration gets investigated if the other party holds Congress. Then the President stonewalls investigations and hopes rulings aren’t handed down before their term ends. By then, no one cares. Even the people who did care let it go.
I’m not going to re-litigate all of the times this has happened. Maybe I think the previous scandals are fine because the Overton window shifted that far on such things.
But it’s clear Trump is exceptional. His corruption is exceptional. His degraded mental health is exceptional. His resume of failed businesses is exceptional. His track record of defrauding anyone who dares to do business with him is exceptional. His history of sexual assault is exceptional. His lack of basic human decency is exceptional.
Here’s hoping Dems recognize him as an exception and break precedent.
Someone who works for NYT who is not a choad.
Her entire thread is really good and covers a lot of ground, definitely recommend reading it all.
