The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

Since Yang is unlikely to win, let’s pretend this is the same as him saying, “I don’t have aces. I promise.”

Trump got the establishment, he got them good and they new he was coming for them and they couldn’t do shit to him and peeps think that now that he’s an Ex President that he will goto jail…

Trump was disowned by the establishment in the 80’s after his father passed away, he was ridiculed and laughed at and he knew it.

They ain’t laughing now and nor are we + they know he has no shame, will sue, will go for a kill shot and would jail his best friends without blinking a eye and has done so… But don’t worry, some scary WASP’s are on the case… Yeah their on it so they can follow it because that’s there reality.

Anyone going after Trump best not miss… This has never been a truer statement about anyone in history. Like Julius Caesar, you best not miss.

I am a vocal non-WAAFer and completely disagree with the idea that Trumpism is a 1-time thing. It is here to stay for 30-40% of Americans and to be honest predates Trump by a long, long time, think Tea Party & Birtherism (which existed without Trump). I also don’t see Fox News turning on him ever. Without that, how does another McCain or Romney get nominated?

2016 broke everything IMO.

I don’t think Trumpism is a one-time thing, but his followers could easily move on to some other deplorable because they got bored of Trump or he got too fat and old and some buff racist guy is outflanking him from the right.

A lot of what keeps Trump supporters locked onto Trump is that Trump controls conservative media and the GOP. If he ever leaves office there will be plenty of opportunities for new deplorables to emerge.

Hate the comparison to caesar. Not only was he probably the baddest mother fucker of all time and a political and legislative genius, but he was also super merciful to a degree that was unheard of in his time period. Dude pardoned everyone who surrendered. Some multiple times.

The civil war was mostly the senate/Pompey wanting to prosecute him. He even offered to give up his army and leave his fate up to a vote by the people but the Senate wanted him exiled at all costs.

Also something I notice with a lot of trump supporters is them constantly talking about winning. It’s like they’re giant losers and live vicariously through him. Owning the libs is also a huge part of it. For them a lot of the fun is seeing him beat liberals.

If he loses in 2020 I think he loses a ton of his magic. Sure they will say its rigged and still support him, but for the most part he won’t have the same hold on him.

Also on team lol hes not going to jail, but by 2024 his brain and health will he way too far gone to run again

That is easily what I imagine is keeping a lot of people in line. But more than that, the certainty of what he would do even if they succeed. Call them cowards, I know I do, but Trump has almost certainly vowed to burn it all down if they turn against him.

Wait until banks start failing and unemployment soars, more people will fall into their trap of blaming the radical left, Muslims, immigrants, etc. The tRUmp movement, modern day fascism, will gain in popularity. Hitler didn’t consolidate power during times of economic prosperity, it’s a lot easier to pass the buck than take personal responsibility.

From the Times article

In a previously unreported sequence of events, Mr. Mulvaney worked to schedule a call for that day with Mr. Trump and top aides involved in the freeze, including Mr. Vought, Mr. Bolton and Pat Cipollone, the White House counsel. But they waited to set a final time because Mr. Trump had a golf game planned for Monday morning with John Daly, the flamboyant professional golfer, and they did not know how long it would take.

I would agree that Trump had a lot of things going that the next “Trump” likely won’t have. Trump had celebrity status from something other than politics and thus could cast himself as an “outsider”. Current politicians won’t be able to do that. He also benefitted from a lot of people who simply couldn’t bring themselves to vote for Hillary. And I think its true that nobody can blow the racist dog-whistle like Trump can. The next guy likely won’t be deft enough to do it without just openly admitting to it.

Sure, there will be a continuation of tea party-like conservative politics, but without the abstract shit like building a wall or becoming best buddies with the Russians. I don’t think the next Trump will hold our allies in the same kind of distain. So I guess you can count me in on the faction that believes that the Trump phenomenon is one that’s not likely to be repeated.

Hopefully he’ll be dead by then.

Happy to make some kind of bet that Trump never sees the inside of a prison cell.

I’d be open to it if I didn’t think cases take a long time + he probably dies soonish didn’t make you a heavy favorite.

People forget that Fox News tried to sink Trump and the base simply wasn’t having it. Once they got a taste of the pure, uncut racism, there was no going back to the occasional dog whistle martini.

He’s been “deteriorating” for 4 years, his mother died at 88 and his father at 93, sorry team #naturalcauses you seem as optimistic to me as team lawbros circa 2018. He’s significantly more likely than not to live well into his 80s and will never spend a day in jail.
