The Presidency of Donald J. Trump, Episode VI: No Witnesses, One Defector, No Checks or Balances

It’s not like she actually lost the election after all. Avoiding a nominee bc of fear of the other sides narrative doesn’t seem like sound strat. Your point is well taken tho.

Barr said a prosecutor he had hand picked to conduct a review similar to that of Horowitz — U.S. Attorney John Durham — had a broader mandate, and his investigation would likely hit an “important watershed” in the late spring or early summer.

If it’s what you say, trump loves it

Without gerrymandering, 30+ deep red senate seats going to like 5% of the population and straight up cheating the GOP isnt even a viable national party. It’s fun to rip Democrats and god knows they deserve it but the core problems are structural and absolutely must be addressed when power is regained.

God I want so badly for attorney general Kamala Harris to hand pick a prosecutor with a broader mandate to investigate the same things mueller investigated.

Yeah, this is hilarious in light of all the people hand-wringing about Dems dragging impeachment proceedings out till elections. Barr is proudly broadcasting that he is going to be releasing a clearly partisan report right before the election, and that shit is definitely going to work.

This is another example of the Ds playing themselves. Voting against impeachment is one thing, whining to Politico about how you really wanted to come together with moderate Republicans to censure Trump but stubborn Nancy Pelosi was just too committed to impeachment is some next level ish.

The word moderate makes me want to vomit my guts out

These moderate dems probably feel that they have leverage in a debate about censure because they haven’t censured trump for like 200 things that any other president would be censured over. Lol

Right??? Call them spineless or cowards. I’m a coward too but come on Politco geez

It’s not the same 5 million people watching every minute of their programming. Then they are those who breathe in second-hand Fox through social media.

Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.)

District voting for president in 2016:
Gottheimer (NJ-5): Trump 49-48
Schrader (OR-5): Hillary 48-44

OMG FUCK YOU BOTH.

My rep, ugh.

Yep. They should face a serious primary challenge

The group of about 10 Trump-district lawmakers included Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-N.J.), Kurt Schrader (D-Ore.), Anthony Brindisi (D-N.Y.), and Ben McAdams (D-Utah.).

Democrats remain united on impeachment, with just two in the caucus on record opposing the House’s impeachment inquiry: Reps. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) and Jeff Van Drew (D-N.J.), who both sit in districts carried by Trump in 2016.

“I think censure is just a way out. If you want to go, you gotta go,” Pelosi told reporters in June. “If the goods are there, you must impeach. Censure is nice, but it is not commensurate with the violations of the Constitution should we decide that’s the way to go.”

Maybe they floated censure like Trump’s cabinet floated the 25th lol

I want to believe this is in part a psychological tactic. It puts people in a position to ask listen, is it really that you believe Trump did nothing wrong or is it that you think the punishment is too harsh?

Well regardless of whether Dems intended this, if they can get members of the GOP to say that it was wrong but deserves censure, not impeachment, that is actually a huge step to them next admitting maybe impeachment is appropriate.

Conversion by a thousand tiny debates.

Oh my sweet summer child.

I said want to believe, not I do believe. Allow me to express my angst at the reality of our situation versus what I wanted it to be.

You should admit

Basically both Republicans and Democrats have locked themselves into terrible political brands that no one under 60 wants.

It wasn’t just charisma that made Obama less vulnerable to the GOP attack machine than HRC. It’s that not only was there nothing illegal, there wasn’t a bunch of stuff that reflected badly on him whether it was legal or not. So they just had ridiculous birth certificate stuff to make up. HRC’s problem was not that she was unlikable or Benghazi it was stuff like tens of millions from wall st for speeches and NAFTA.

The people in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania weren’t sure she was on their side and they had good reason to think that.
