I agree with you there. Isolating doesn’t mean eating at Chili’s with a mask on when you go to a table though. I would guess probably something like 60-70% of people have eaten at an indoor restaurant at this point, which is why I said the vast majority are not “isolating”. If you mean taking any precautions sure most people are doing that.
Lol blasphemy
Which is what Biden is doing. Most Americans don’t view that as weak and being a sheep.
I think you have me wrong here. Clovis posts that most Americans are “isolating”. I say that is wrong most people aren’t isolating. Biden isn’t isolating. There is a big difference in between taking precautions which most people are doing and isolating which very few people are doing.
The people still isolating absolutely are being treated by most people as the weirdos in this situation. That’s exactly why Trump is trying to paint Biden as isolating even though he isn’t. Because hiding in your basement is perceived as weak by many people in USA #148.
Ok yea I see what you mean.
I think most people would call staying home most of the time, with the occasional meal out, still isolating.
I wonder how polls address the definition? Not that I can find many.
Since early March I have:
-Gone on two camping trips that spanned about 19 days total.
-Stayed in a hotel three times.
-Shopped pretty much as normal for groceries.
-Gone and seen family or had family come and see us about 5 times.
-Eaten on patios 4-5 times mostly when I was on the camping/family trips.
-Gone to 3-4 outdoor small get togethers.
-I have worn masks from the beginning.
-Played golf with people 5 times.
-I have not been on a plane.
-I have not been inside a restaurant/bar.
-I have not really done any indoor activities with anyone.
I would posit that I am in probably the top 15-20% of Covid precautions in the US. Maybe higher. I would not consider myself to be isolating even though I am more isolated than ever in my life. I guess others may see it differently and like many things we are really just arguing semantics.
Not sure that activity puts you in the top 15% in terms of isolating but would be very curious to see a broader study. Since March I have:
-Played online poker
-watched tv
-collected my online delivered groceries from the stoop
-gone for occasional walks
-joked around with the cashier at the liquor store
It may be very dependent on where you live. For OKC that level of activity probably puts me in the top 5% here. In a more sane place? Maybe more like median. I literally know zero people my age here or in the region that are on your level. That is zero over a several hundred person sample size. The vast vast majority are living it up way more than me.
Define isolating. If dining outside instead of in (mostly) and avoiding packed bars/night clubs counts, then a lot of people are. But notice that there are still packed bars and night clubs, which tells you something about how many people aren’t.
Regarding the bolded: yeah, because we aren’t really isolating enough.
I will golf with one friend or my Dad in separate carts without being paired with anyone else, and I use a mask on the driving range if anyone is around.
I’ve gone into a grocery store by choice twice for < 15 minutes each time.
I’ve hung out with my parents and my friend and his wife and daughter outdoors, we did our best to maintain distance.
Probably 3 times I’ve had to go into a store for “curbside” pickup.
I’ve mostly had groceries delivered, everything else delivered, and avoid going outside around others if I can.
While house hunting, I’ve had to go inside several times with 1-3 other people. One time, the current tenant refused to wear a mask. She was a nurse, so she knew best. I was in and out in under 5 minutes. I also took a meeting with a lawyer inside and he was letting the nose hang free. Probably a 10-15 minute meeting.
For all indoor stuff, I use an unofficial n95 equivalent.
I would consider that to be isolating, and other than the house hunting and lawyer, it probably puts me in the 98th percentile in USA#1.
Including the house hunting and lawyer, I’d guess you are in the 98th (if not 99th) percentile in this country.
Accurate use of scare quotes.
Trump really leaning in to the Covid.
…that he’ll catch Covid and die.
you’ll put money up, yea right dude GTFO
“Like, pretty much all the money.”
How many states have gyms, indoor dining, movies, schools, courts, etc open? My sense is fewer than 10.
