I don’t trust Mark Meadows one bit. Okay so first his actions today:

He leaks this statement painting POTUS’ condition in a bad light, but he does so to the entire pool despite being off the record with cameras nearby.

Trump supposedly gets pissed at him.

He basically repeats how bad it was yesterday on the record to Fox News.
Okay, first of all if you’re actually trying to leak something anonymously you don’t do it to a press gaggle with cameras nearby. You do it to one reporter quietly. Second it’s super weird to wait for Trump to get pissed then do it again and attach your name.
I think Meadows is leaking strategically, regardless of whether it’s true and I tend to think it’s not. As for the motive, I can think of a few.

Muddy the waters. Let’s analyze Trump’s condition on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 is dire 10 is playing golf and pounding big macs. The doctor’s say it’s like a 6.5, but it’s really a little worse. You know it may be leaked so you just start leaking that it’s a 2, it’s a 9, it’s a 4, etc… The media will struggle to report aggressively on any of the leaks because they won’t trust them, and his condition will remain pretty unknown.

The political team thinks he’s recovering well and they want to play up the recovery angle and make him look strong.

The political team is trying to create a choose your own adventure. The libs root against him publicly and look bad each time new info breaks. Fox News says daddy is strong and tough. CNN breathlessly reports all of it and loses credibility.

This all distracts from the real scandal: when did he know he was positive and how many people did he knowingly expose? Every minute they spend on “How sick is he???” is not spent on “Holy fuck he pozzed people on purpose???”
My guess is he’s worse than the doctors said, better than Meadows indicated, and the truest thing was “the next 48 hours will be key.” I think that was accidentally true. He’s feeling better and the political team thinks he’s okay, but this is the false hope part of recovery and the real key days are the next few.
I also think he knew Wednesday at the latest. He had symptoms Thursday, these others who got pozzed last Saturday didn’t get symptoms til yesterday/today.
I think he caught it in the middle of last week, was asymptomatic but possibly patient zero for the super spreader events last Saturday, positive but asymptomatic before the debate and tried to cover it up. Alternatively he didn’t get tested til Wednesday.
Either way they tried to cover it up until the Bloomberg story hit and exposed tons of people in the process.
While we’re at it, where’s Pence? Another cover up in progress?

There have been thousands of posts and so much news over the past 48 hours that I don’t think I’ve really taken a few minutes to reflect on this situation and let it truly sink in.
For months we all said “it’s getting close” when some random person that works in DC got covid. We said “how does he fade this” when his kids girlfriend gets sick. We said “why do the good people have to get this and die while Trump skates free”.
Holy shit he actually has COVID-19. It finally happened. We all knew it was likely to happen given his actions and stupidity, but it really, actually did. Him catching this when he had every tool in the world at his disposal to avoid it is one of the biggest fuck ups ever.
Trump has COVID-19. Wow.

I mean I know I look terrible when sick but that’s next level.
Figured he was gonna beat this thing but it won’t be for a while. Bolsonaro supposedly had mild symptoms but he didn’t recover for nearly a month.

Trump has COVID…literally weeks before the election when his chances were already in a tailspin.

Unfortunately, like every other “we’ve got him” that ever happened, this is going to end exactly the same. He’ll recover and somehow his base will actually think the whole thing is positive for him – “Trump is strong like bull”, “Libs are assholes for cheering for his demise”, etc. It’s spinable and they will spin it.
We’ve never got him. COVID ain’t gonna get him either. The only thing that will get him is if we vote him out overwhelmingly. That’s it. While this is an amusing diversion, it actually changes very little.
