hey next time let’s not nominate someone who was already old 30 years ago. unless cirrhosis hits early kav is gonna last 4 presidents, easy

Wait, if I take Trump’s hair does that make him go bald and everyone gets to see it? I’d take one for the team as long as I could shave my head after a few days.

idk man i get that we’re the thoughtful crowd but for real who gives a shit about robert’s rules when compared to the scale of destruction republicans bring upon this country. it’s a fuckin bloodbath every time a republican gets control of the executive. 200k americans dead just from this latest crisis. their solution to income inequality, climate change, race relations… is to deny their existence while relentlessly selling the state to oligarchs.

i can only hope that dems one day start trying to win on results, not form

Romney spokesperson denies this.

I don’t think they’ve played everything perfectly. But I also think they’re in a fundamentally different position than Rs. Mitch and CO went scorched earth on Obama and it didn’t hurt them at all. Most rank and file Dems want some amount of trying to reach across the aisle to get things done - and as a double whammy, they actually pay attention to real life events. Whereas R voters live in a completely fabricated reality.

We’re going to get conflicting stories. Meanwhile, Mitch is charging up his cattle prod, I’m sure.

If we survive this, tonight needs to mark the end of the era of Dems picking the best nominee and the start of Dems picking the strongest nominee under 45 with no health issues. Look at the average age of nominees the last 30-40 years.

The GOP essentially appoints nominees to 10-15 year longer terms, and we think we can somehow win that way?

Two of the most important questions to nominees should be:

  1. Do you promise to step down if you’re over 70 and there’s a Democratic president?

  2. How often do you eat spinach?

A basic principle of the law — and of everyday fairness — is that we apply rules with consistency, and not based on what’s convenient or advantageous in the moment. The rule of law, the legitimacy of our courts, the fundamental workings of our democracy all depend on that basic principle. As votes are already being cast in this election, Republican Senators are now called to apply that standard. The questions before the Court now and in the coming years — with decisions that will determine whether or not our economy is fair, our society is just, women are treated equally, our planet survives, and our democracy endures — are too consequential to future generations for courts to be filled through anything less than an unimpeachable process.

lmao was thinking the same, maybe hes got the dirt on him that Trump has on lindsey

so trump is 100% gonna nominate SOMEBODY. this is known.

mitch says he’ll put him/her up for a vote, you gotta wonder if he’ll try to peer pressure senators to go on record after the primaries are over. like potentially sinking murkowski and collins with conservatives RIGHT before the election. it’s a risk.

I don’t know but who am I to question somebody who says he can do something right now? I mean Obama is appealing to Republican’s sense of fairness.

Anyway, this is who he says he is:

opinion journo/SC political consultant, used to be straight, former Senate staffer. @citadel1842 grad, despise racists, @billy_reid
hoarder. I cook. A lot.

Breaking: Mitch McConnell’s chelonian chub can now be seen from outer space. Chris Evans breathes a sigh of relief.

I’m extremely confident they’ll start hearings ASAP.

Their calculus is:

Vote before the election: get them on the court for any election related cases, but perhaps surrender the Senate unless their riggage is airtight.

Vote in the lame duck: if Trump wins you’re good regardless, if Biden wins you’ve laid the groundwork for Dems to pack the court, and Johnson, Murkowski, Toomey and Burr may all be fucked in '22. This strategy boosts Trump’s election odds straight up, but hurts his chances of stealing it.

It’s really hard to say how much EV they gain in electoral cases and how much they gain from cheating, so it’s really hard to figure out what they’ll do here.

if collins loses, i gotta believe her vote can be bought during the lame duck

or if she wins, either way
