Trump’s line on these tapes is that they never happened, and while hearing him say it is compelling, the pandemic stuff isn’t actually new information. I still think we get LIBERATE MICHIGAN, because Trump would still be hellbent on opening the economy and hiding the pandemic, just as he is today.

I don’t doubt he’d still say it, I just don’t think many people would listen after that tape. It’s kind of why Texas and Florida waited so long to pile up the cases. People ignored their idiot governors and listened to the health experts. By June 1, all these same people were listening to the governors and Trump relentlessly pounding them instead of the health experts. We got what we got and there’s no going back now but it definitely could have been different.
The SDI map the week before Trump said liberate taken 2 further weeks would have probably bent the curve to where the baseline of part 2 would have been tiny instead of what it became. Two more weeks was all we needed then, but Trump stopped it.
The Trumpkins will believe whatever they’re told. If this story dropped in March, and forced Trump to acknowledge the virus is for reals, some of them might have taken it more seriously.

By tomorrow we’re going to get a tweet about how the economy and/or schools should keep opening up. He’s going to hold another maskless rally inside of two weeks. Why would his followers believe the tapes when Trump won’t act like he believes the tapes? These recordings would end people with a sense of shame, but Trump has none. He will keep going forward as planned without admitting ever having made a mistake. That’s true now and in April.
