We get a LOT of house finches. Like 20 a day. So this scrub jay visit today was pretty exciting.
Setting up a trail camera on a bird feeder is genius.
Do you ever get any parrots in your area? That would be a quite a sight on that camera!
They’re close, but the last thing I want to do is get those noisy fuckers hanging around my house.
“Behold! The song of my people!”
Names are Lorena and Marjorie?
“When he saw the breadth of his domain, Alexander wept, for there were no more worlds to conquer.”
“My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings;
Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Lost my other fur baby today. 15 years old. Her sister died a few years back. So sad that both these girls are gone. Got them on the same day back in '08
Nice, sunny day in the 40s. He was outside all day, somewhere off

@LFS what’s the coyote situation in your area? They’re everywhere up here in N Pas.
This morning at 7:30am, we came within 10ft of one that lunged at us from behind a tree. I don’t think he saw me, so he called it off mid-lunge, but he was ready to grab and go. I’ve got a 25lb beagle (target) and 40lb hound mix. Got my heart rate thumping!
I see them almost every morning on our walk. They usually keep their distance, but this morning was different. Nearly every night, we hear them howling. I guess they’re mating now, so they’re out until later past sunrise?
Yeah that’s their M.O. I see them just about every day. I carry a Billy club type weapon on our first walk at 5AM. My dog is around 35 pounds and thinks she could kill all the coyotes single-handed but they’d make quick work of her I’m sure. In 10 years of dog walking in the AM I’ve had to brandish the club in a threatening manner a couple of dozen times but have only swung with the intent to hit maybe 5 or 6 times. Never made contact, those guys are super smart and quick.
Damn do I need a mf billy club?
If you really loved your dog like Real American you could use your AR-15 to turn the coyote into minced meat.
I think mating season just ended, but could be wrong. I see them from time to time in the creek where I walk, but my dog is a 75lb pointer so I’m not too worried. Did come across one a month ago that I assume was the alpha of the area as he just backed up and didn’t run away to my dog charging him at full speed, was probably 50 lbs.
My dog then slowed at a distance of 20 feet and kept barking at him and bluff charging.
Coyote surveyed the area, didn’t seem to worried, but slowly walked away up the hill back into the bushes, my dog kept that distance for a bit before coming back to me when I called him when the coyote was probably 70 metres away from me.
5 minutes later I heard a group of 2-4 howling at each other.
Normally my guy just chases them away and they turn and run and then at about 200 metres my guy comes back.
My biggest coyote problem is they skulk around my house in the middle of the night, which gets the dogs barking.
Mating season is a big part of it now, around here. They’re out later into the morning compared to other times of year and are packing giant, angsty coyote boners.
