The NHL Thread: It’s Back

Seventy-five dollars per ticket in the upper bowl of an arena is pretty standard (or even a good deal) for NHL games, depending on the city.

What was mentioned in the article, but not really answered by the author, is why Winnipeg struggles much more than the “comparable” city of Edmonton in supporting their NHL team?

Edmonton has a lot more money than Winnipeg. I havent been to there arena myself, but you wont feel super safe walking around the one in downtown Winnipeg at night.

I dunno, i just checked ticketmaster for Tampa’s next game and found several for 45$. Tampa has been one of the highest performing teams in the NHL the past 5 years. Technically the tbl have the longest sell out steak in the nhl(I’m sure the team buys some tickets). Jets probably need to rethink that cost.

I have a 10 game pass for the lightning and am considered a season ticket holder. I’m in the lower bowl 11 rows off the ice (in a corner, so not the best seats) and my cost per seat is $115.

I wonder what sort of season ticket packages the jets offer. If they are strictly full season passes then it’s probably worth limiting the amount of tickets purchased.

Winnipeg is a shit hole city, it has a declining population and is absolutely freezing. Unlike the prarie cities it is a damp/wet cold so it pierces your layers too. Every food place is a chain, and the only redeeming quality is like 3 semi nice looking buildings in downtown. Anyone with money leaves as soon as they can.

Here’s a great song about Winnipeg:

Torts get tossed on the night TB is honoring the ‘04 cup team that he coached. 100% of flyers Twitter is on his side.

I was watching the game, i still have no clue what he did to get ejected.

Word is he applied the F word to the refs’ mothers.

Along the lines of FU and F your effing mothers. At least that’s what we saw on the twitterz

Seems like a reasonable reason to eject someone.

Supposedly the worst ref in the league. Idk if the calls were bad or not.

The only one i remember seeing was the tripping call, which seemed obvious. The only reason to be upset was the ref accidentally said the penalty was on #23 on Tampa, when that was who was tripped by #23 on Philly.

There was a 10 minute misconduct handed out shortly before that, too, but the player literally skated onto the ice straight in and hit a lightning player.

Flyers Twitter. I claim no veracity. Only feels.

There was a good ol’ line brawl to start the Rangers/Devils game.

So apparently because Vesey and Lazar started before the other fights, the other 8 combatants were tossed.

46.7 Fighting After the Original Altercation - A game misconduct penalty shall be imposed on any player who is assessed a major penalty for fighting after the original altercation has started. Notwithstanding this rule, at the discretion of the Referee, the automatic game misconduct penalty may be waived for a player in the altercation if the opposing player was clearly the instigator of the altercation.

Reason for the tussle—
“ What happened was that Rempe hit Bastian in the head and got a major and misconduct. Next game McDermid challenged him to fight but Rempe declined. Then later that game Rempe hit Seigenthaler in the head with an elbow and got suspended for it. So that’s why McDermid and Rempe were fighting off the draw.”

Rempe is the Rags new orangutan and McDermid is the Devils knuckle-dragger.

I love that they waited until the refs were occupied with the first pair before the other 4 squared up

Good battle in the East for the last spots.

Mostly Wash, Phil, Det battling for 2 spots. NYI lurking and aren’t dead yet.

One of Wash/Phil/NYI will get a division spot, the others battle Det for WC.

Aren’t you forgetting someone?

You are correct they aren’t out of it. Gotta jump 3 teams for the division. Add in the wings for the WC.

My bolts are starting to heat up at the ideal time after looking mid all season. Trying to catch the leafs. Should make for some fun hockey going into the playoffs.

Apparently the wings swept the bolts this season.

Wings season is going to come down to the last two games, a home and home vs Montreal.

My buddy is a Habs fan. We have an annual lunch bet on the season series. 1-1 so far.
